Ravens beating Detroit did not hurt us at all.

The game against the bills will tell me what this team is made of. Typically Miami comes out flat and gets their asses kicked when things are on the line. This will speak volumes about Joe Philbin and his coaching staff. This team in my eyes still is trying to formulate who they are. They don't have an identity. Beat the bills at home and that identity starts to come into focus.

Here is something else I dont understand.......

If Im going to play a playoff game, Id obviously rather host it as the 2 or 3 seed. But, if I MUST be the 6 seed, which for some reason everyone here on FH loves the idea of, Cinci is the team I least want to face on the road. I dont get why everyone wants to sign up for this game. First, lets just take a look at all 6 of the Bengals home game results this year.......

ALL WINS

20-10 over Steelers
34-30 over Packers(with Rodgers)
13-6 over Patriots
49-9 over Jests
41-20 over Browns
42-28 over Colts

Thats 3 good teams they knocked off in that building and 3 double digit wins vs teams under .500. 6-0. Im sorry, but Id much rather play @ New England or @ Baltimore. While both of those teams are good at home as well, Id like our chances a bit better, especially @ New England. We had them beat up there last time and we beat them at home. The Bengals arent a joke in that building. I know we beat the Bengals in our place, but going up there and winning would be a tall order. We could certainly do it, but thats a tough place to win this year.
i dont know man.

ill take any playoff game, but i gotta disagree with u here.

although we can beat any of these teams, we just seem to never win in foxboro. does not matter how big a lead we have ( 2011 17-0 halftime, 2013 17-3 halftime) we just seem cursed there.

brady no matter what always seems to find a way vs us in the end, especially in foxboro. do not like that matchup for us.

in balt, the ravens r playoff contested. flacco seems to up his game in the playoffs, and balt is really good at home.

i know u posted all the cincy games, but cincy i feel is the least scary team of the 3. id rather face dalton over brady or flacco. just my opinion though. ill take any playoff matchup though.

Btw, if anyone is wondering......

Root for the Bengals to lose next week and of course the Phins to win.

This would set up a HUGE 4pm where we can root for Baltimore and San Diego.

If the Phins win, Baltimore wins, and Cinci loses, the Phins will enter week 17 with an opportunity(albeit very slim) to win the 2 seed and a first round bye. Id run through the mall wearing nothing but a Santa hat.

So, if the following plays out:

Miami (10-6): WIN @ Buffalo, WIN vs. New York
Baltimore (10-6): WIN vs. New England, WIN @ Cincinnati
Cincinnati (10-6): WIN vs. Minnesota, LOSS vs. Baltimore
New England (10-6): LOSS @ Baltimore, LOSS vs. Buffalo

Miami gets #2, Baltimore #3, Cincinnati #6, and NE ELIMINATED! Don't see NE losing out but that would be amazing!

Who would you rather face on the road in the playoffs, Tom Brady or Andy dalton? Case closed

Maybe it's in the Dolphins' best interest to need to win out to make the playoffs. If they got in at 9-7, I would feel as if they backed in and didn't earn it. And it would lessen the likelihood that they could win a playoff game.

Bring them both on. Both will be a character building experience for Miami...something that is much needed to turn the tide on the losing epidemic that has been here for over an decade. However if you asked me who the more satisfying victory would be....that's a no brainer.

Yeah but the chances would be more favorable for fins to clinch next week. Any help fins could get to clich would have been great. I mean i know it';s not good to get carried away as all this help doesn;t mean much if fins dont do their job and win next week, which obv cant be taken for granted. Just saying that fins would need less things to work in favor for fins to clinch. next weekend. Fins would just need Ravens to lose Or Bengals. So, fins wouldnt need to depend on ravens losing since ravens seem to squeek crazy wins out as long as bengals lose next weekn and fins win. Fins wouldnt be depended on the ravens to lose, which would be nice and either or team. Now fins need BOTH bengals and ravens to lose if fins win next week.

Who is worried about clinching next week? What does it matter what week we clinch so long as we get in?

Ive got news for you........ If we beat Buffalo, we clinch. I dont give a **** what happens. Do you really believe we are losing to the Jests in the last week if we beat Buffalo? I dont. We win on Sunday and we are going to the playoffs.

Besides, again, if we win Sunday at 1pm, Im rooting like hell for Baltimore at 4pm. You guys should be stoked about the possibility of still having a shot to win the division going into the final week. We havent been in that position in what seems like forever.

**** a wildcard. Winning the division means 2 things...... HUGE THINGS.......

1) We HOST a playoff game against a team we have already played at home this year and either beat or played a close OT game with. Obviously we would have a great shot to win and advance to the ****ing DIVISIONAL ROUND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thats a great season.

2) We could troll the absolute **** out of Pats fans.

Get with it people. GO FINS AND GO RAVENS!!!!!!

Now obviously if we lose at 1pm...... GO PATS!!!!!

Thats what is so great about the time slots next week. If both of those games were at the same time, it would be difficult to sit and root for the Ravens to beat the Pats because if we lost during the same time, a Ravens win would crush us. But, if we KNOW we have already won our game..... GO RAVENS!!! A Ravens win would once again not hurt us.

Given the near meltdown of the oline and the distractions and all that and how the line has pulled together, a playoff birth, no matter how it happens, is a huge confidence builder for this franchise IMO.

Not if San Diego also finished 9-7 along with the Dolphins and Ravens. In the case of a 3 team tie, the Dolphins get the wildcard.

No **** sherlock. That is my point. That is why the Ravens winning tonight didnt hurt us. We win that 3 team tie so long as one of the Ravens losses that put them to 9-7 was vs the Pats or the Bengals..... not the Lions.

The Ravens win obviously has "some" negative effects, but not nearly as bad as many on the media think.

Ways it hurts us:

in a 2 team tiebreak between us and the Ravens at 8-8 or 9-7. We lose both of those.

If we win the division at 10-6 and Baltimore wins their division at 10-6 and Indy loses out. Then this Baltimore win would give them the 2 seed instead of us.

Other than that, the effect is much less than many thought because of the Steelers win over the Bengals last night.

Those jets while Geno does suck did beat the saints and pats this year. Any given sunday and I can't take them for granted. The sooner the clinch the better, I like things locked up sooner than later. Now its going to be later if fins win next week. The chances of fins getting the 2 spot is so rare, the Pats own the Bills and will not lose to them. Let fins get in and then do damage.

Those making the point about facing Dalton as opposed to Brady or Flacco are making a very good point. In retrospect, you may be correct. Id probably rather face the Bungles for that reason as well even considering it being a road game.

lets say indy finishes 10-6 as well, and there was a 3 way tie at 10-6 with balt, miami, and indy? do we get 2nd seed in 3 way tiebreak?

just did the playoff machine.

balt, indy and miami finishing 10-6, assuming pats lose out, we get 2 seed.

the baltimore win makes it such that if we win 1 of 2, we will need SD to beat KC for us to back into the 6th seed. had balt lost, we would be in at 9-7 irrespective of the outcome of that game.

AND

it reduces the chances of us playing Cincy, which is a winnable game within 1 hrs drive of where I live. I really really wanted that Cincy playoff game.
