Miami senior S Ray Ray Armstrong has been suspended indefinitely by the team after discussing an interaction with a booster on Twitter.

As of right now, Armstrong has not been removed from the team. The infraction may appear small, but with Miami's recent history involving boosters this could lead to more severe punishment. We should see more news coming out quickly due to the Supplemental Draft on July 12, an option for Armstrong if he faces a lengthy suspension or even dismissal. Talent wise, he may be the hurricanes most skillful defender but he has already been suspended twice, once for his involvement with Nevin Shapiro and another last Novemeber for attending a dinner with a public relations executive. With the Dolphins drafting two Hurricanes players in April and apparently re-opening the connection between the two teams, could Armstrong be a possibility for the Dolphins if he were to declare for the Supplemental Draft? As the above quote says, the Supplemental Draft is on July 12th, so Armstrong would likely have to declare this week.

Safety is one of the few concerns on defense and I checked some draft websites and they projected him going somewhere in the 2nd or 3rd round next year. If he does declare, would you be tempted to give up a 3rd round pick(Miami has two next year) or maybe a 4th rounder?

He's worth a 3rd kid has a lot of talent. I would be more concerned if he was getting suspended for doing immature things and was a slacker. if the only problem this kid has is that he might have taken some cash from some booster I don't see why not use a third on him or maybe even a 2nd

Tons of talent. Questionable judgment at best. Kid has a lot of growing up to do. Serious instincts, though. Not sure I'd take a risk with him.

I think the better risk is with Seantrel Henderson. Ridiculous size. Piss poor coaching while at Miami. Suffered thru the Shannon era and then had to deal with Art Kehoe last season. Art Kehoe is a guy that got a job based on what he did many many moons ago with the Hurricanes of the 1980's. He's a great recruiter. Terrible line coach. Seantrel is a kid that is just bigger and badder than everyone else but he's raw. Some real coaching at the next level could benefit team and player.

A SECOND ROUND PICK? You guys want us to use a SECOND ROUND PICK on this kid?

A SECOND ROUND PICK?

Koa Misi is on the same level as Pat White now? Give me a break. Koa Misi isn't a gamechanger but his rookie season he had 41 tackles, 5 sacks, 1 FR for a TD. That's a pretty damn solid rookie campaign. People need to think comments through before they say them.

A 2nd round pick on an immature punk safety, sign me right up! No. 5th? Yes, I'm fine with that. A 4th? Okay, if you REALLY believe in him, then I will trust Ireland. But a 2nd? NO. Just NO. That's way too much of a price. Yes, Miami has wasted 2nd round picks on guys like Pat White before, but that was in the past. We need to change our attitude and our wasteful spending of these draft picks. That 2nd round pick could be used on a WR. It could be spent on a 1st round prospect who dropped like a brick due to some reason, like Jon Martin.

I wouldn't give up a 2nd round pick. All I was saying is that draft websites looking towards the 2013 draft are projecting him as a 2nd or 3rd round pick if he plays his senior season. Lindy's football preview has him as the #1 strong safety for the 2013 draft.

Now, if he declares for the Supplemental Draft you have to project on what you know now and not project based on what you think he would have done as a college senior. So I don't think a 2nd round pick is realistic for him. A 3rd? Perhaps still a little high. More likely a 4th rounder, maybe he slips to the 5th.

I have mixed feelings on this one. First I say it fills a huge defensive need and unknown but second it is a huge risk from a behavior standpoint.

Im not a fan of the supplemental draft, i would only give up a draft pick if there was a star there, and i dont see Armstrong as one..............

As of late, I'm not sure I would take risks on many players from the U.

So if you have a 2nd or 3rd RD grade on a guy (not typically STAR territory), and you can get him for a 5th in the supplemental draft, you'd pass?

This guy was rated top 20 player at ANY position when he came out of HS. Hits like a ton of bricks but never lived up to that potential. i was hoping this would be his year and now this. JCane is right. The kid needs to grow up.

Henderson was rate the best lineman in the country and Miami stoled him from USC I believe,
Same story. Very immature. He would be a project but this guy is a monster.

Save our picks. We have enough projects if you ask me.

When was the last time that a decent player actually emerged from the Supplementary Draft? Reshad Jones and Jimmy Wilson can cover the safety spots.
