relax... its only preseason... lol yeah right

So what your saying is that not counting last year, we went 11-5 to 9-7 to 10-6 and those records are bad because we did bad in the preseason? What more do you want from the team, the 72 Dolphins?

You've basically said we've done bad in past preseasons which would result in bad acutal seasons BUT those are very good records. So what exactly is your point, because your not making any sence where your going with this preseason performance=season outcome...

...this message is directed toward Jeep by the way, didn't want to quote his essay...

Guess so, being the late-night TOS police :)

Turns out that I'm not working tonight which really sucks, because I couldve had my yellow flags and my beer earlier tonight.

Oh man, I hate short notices. Especially when my dolphins are playing. The world can wait and plan around my schedule when theyre playing.

I'd be happy with a somewhat contained pocket and not the collapsing pocket that we have witnessed for the last three years..

Besides our first team OL. Our QB's had plenty of pass protection. Frerotte, Sage and Berlin all benefited from it.

Terry Terry Terry... this has nothing to do with winning or losing the game this evening... It has everything to do with being able to execute the simplest of football plays...

There was mental errors tonight and physical errors.. its the physical errors that makes me concerned with the lack of improvement from one year to the next..

Its quick that we forget that this bears defense has had a year already under coach Lovie Smith. We have a brand new coaching staff that is still teaching the fundamentals of a system to their players. I'm sure Hudson Houck had to break down these O-linemen before building them back up, because they had Wise teaching them beforehand...

LEt the team and coaching staff make adjustments from game to game before panicking is how I feel. Tomorrow will be the first day that they will be able to critique the team and the execution. It was impossible to do that beforehand (since this was their first game).

You wouldve been a lot better off keeping that comment to himself....
Not sure how that can happen, but ok, if its possible.

Yea, you got me....I fudged up. However you know what I meant, and I expect you to keep that in mind.

If you guys wish to believe the team will get better as the preseason progresses, then hey.. go for it..

But for all the others that want to discuss what they think is wrong with the team... even if they are able to notice it as early as preseason game #1... then atleast come up with an original response... "chill dude" "its preseason" "relax" "it means nothing" is getting old... and tiresome

Do you think the team will get worse at pass protection, run blocking, etc? That's what it sounds like with all the panicking....

I think you have a couple valid points Jeep which are a bit exagerated to make a point. They did miss some of the fundamentals and had some mental mistakes etc. That said....Saban has what....44 new players on the roster now (actually more I believe, that # was from an article written a couple of weeks ago). Most of those 44 probably played tonight...as Saban needs to judge them before the 1st cuts. Obviously they're the bottom of the food chain to begin with and most will be cut, don't know this system etc. etc. The 1st and 2nd stringers / quality guys....they do need to do better. At the same time....I'd imagine they don't take it as seriously as a real game and know what the preseason is for.....to warm up for the real season, to practice new techniques (not be perfect) and the list goes on. Anyways, valid points, just exagerated a bit imho. It will take another year or two for Saban to keep shaping up the roster from the bad picks / trades from the Wanny holdover. 44+ new players shows he's trying to do that.

You're right Jbond... The team clearly is a couple of years away from being competive.. I guess I was hoping for a better showing for the first preseason game for which I could build hope on..

But it looks to me, from one preseason game that we will be that 6 win team that the media is predicting... its dissapointing and frustrating when compounded by argumentative members here at our home forum..

Post something that is non argumentive then. I am sorry but what you posted is wrong. Preseason games are pretty much meaningless, especially the first one. They are good for teaching and some roster battles, but that is about it. There is no game planning, hell there is no game planning. That is a HUGE part of the NFL. Plus there is a bunch of learning.

Here is the main problem. They only way you can make a good judgement, a solid judgement, a judgement that actually makes sense is if you were to actually break down the film and watch the game through about 5 times or so with watching most plays at least 6 or 7 times from different angles. All these judgements from today are rash judgements that are about as good as training camp reports. When you see a long pass, do you know who broke down in coverage, do you know who blitzed too late, who blitzed too early, who went left when they should of went right or if someone just got the play wrong?

We were all hoping for a better showing as last year was painful to watch....although Bates did have his moments in getting us excited. I wouldn't predict anything based off this game since it is what it was....the first preseason game. Consider it to be just a hair above the usual Titan scrimmage (which we're not having this year b/c of this additional preseason game). Nothing more, nothing less at this point. Just an oppoent for the team to suit up and practice against and for Saban to get a look at how the players react against different opponents. Now we get to see what Saban does after picking the film apart. How Saban handles the mistakes from preseason will be extremely important in their improvement to the regular seaon. At this poit...they've had only a few weeks to practice and a couple of mini-camps. They're just getting into the swing of things. No excuses from me for the crappy mistakes....but it is just the begining of the next 4 1/2 months.
