Remember when...the Miami Dolphins hired Tony Sparano?

What have we won recently? We have losing records the last 2 seasons. We haven't been higher then 3rd in the divisional standings. We haven't made it to the playoffs. Does Tony Sparano deserve praise for losing to the Browns and Lions while they were using backup quarterbacks? What do you expect? "Hey Tony, great job losing more games then you won!", "Hey Sparano, you are very deserving of that raise and extension we gave you because you almost broke even!". Honestly, how sad is it if our fans are expecting people to praise losing efforts.

If the offensive line was that dominate, why did Sparano replace those players? He continued to tweak the offensive line and it fell apart. How is that not his fault? How is it not his fault that he didn't find adequate replacement players? How is it not his fault that this team seriously lacked depth despite burning draft pick after draft pick and free agent cash after free agent cash in one position group? 4 drafts now and 3 free agency periods and those positions are still unsettled. But hey, we haven't had that 4th free agency yet! This time they will get it right!!!

This front office announced they would build through the draft. It has been 4 drafts. Thats 4 offseasons. If they are truly counting on the abbreviated free agency that might occur, then they have failed at their own stated goals. Plus, they have relied on free agency to improve our offensive line in the past...and failed miserably. So, they have failed at that already. Why in gods name should we give them the benefit of the doubt this time? "Hey, you screwed the pooch 3 times, but 4th times a charm!!!!".

Sparano benched his chosen franchise quarterback. He publically expressed displeasure about his performance. He then publically loathed the lack of speed on offense(the offense he spent 3 years building no less). He continuesly stated it was not Dan Henning fault. He publically agreed with the excuses Henning was giving the press. How is that accountability? What part of that is acceptable to problem solving? He was throwing people under the bus and the players finally got disgusted during week 17 and started changing routes on the field(not surprising, they had more success). Again, what part of this situation is good? What part of that screams "Tony Sparano is getting it done!"?

And many on this board gave Sparano alot of credit in bringing in Nolan. Last offseason, when he brought him in, many(myself included) thought it was a coup. But that was in the past. Despite that, we had a losing season. When are people going to stop looking backwards and try to move forward? "Oh yeah, well, Sparano once brought in a good coordinator a couple seasons ago and it was awesome so we shouldnt blame him for the multiple losing records!". Absurd.

And yes, Sparano fired his special teams coach. Many around the league either bemoaned the move or outright raged against it. The Jets special teams coordinator publically pointed out just how they took advantage of us and how we didnt correct the problem. After the Patriots took advantage of what the Jets coordinator saw and spoke about, we then released Carpenter. Either 1) Sparano needed other people to point out a glaring flaw, 2) he thought Carpenter was a good player when he really wasn't, or 3) he was trying to protect himself as he was the one that brought in Carpenter in the first place but eventually had to release him when it became glaring obvious.

And your correct, i do not see the point of praising Tony Sparano for winning 7 games when he also loses 9. I do not see the benefit of praising Tony Sparano for actions taken in previous years when our current situation is leading to defeats.

Beautiful!!.
