Report: Philbin almost quit over Sherman situation

Joe Philbin has some fire to him, he just won't show it publicly. A few weeks ago a report came out that he just completely dressed down one of his assistants in front of the entire team on a Friday after a really ****ty practice.

He isn't quite as cute and cuddly as he is portrayed to be.
 
I'm choosing to believe that it wasn't just about Sherman, if Ireland wouldn't have been fired or quit or whatever happened I bet Philbin really would have quit. Ireland made Philbin/Tannehill/Sherman look worse than they actually were and while I think we definitely needed an upgrade from Sherman he wasn't nearly as bad as he's being made out to be here. For a stretch after we got McKinnie we had a top 10 offense but the problem with Sherman is he's inconsistent and will cost us a game or two a year. Not sure if he seems to be inconsistent because goes back to the well too often or if certain d-coordinators just own him but it was certainly a problem. So if we do get an upgrade this whole thing could turn out to be a blessing in disguise.

He has a stigma because of his look, he looks like an insurance agent or something so people can't believe he could possibly be a leader of men, but there is no way he's been a professional coach his entire life without having some crucial leadership qualities.

Typically, that is bad management and team building for the record. You don't do that in front of the team.

It depends. The coaches rip on players when they screw up, so I think it shows that Joe is likewise holding his coaches accountable. I don't have a problem with doing that once in a while when it's needed.

But he kind of is, by saying it's the scheme, or the execution, or the draft. He's constantly shifting responsibility. Look, we all know we need to upgrade the roster. But he's given us no explanation as to why HIS offense couldn't score more than 7 points to get in the playoffs. I don't want to hear this BS that "we're close" again, like 2 years ago. That's what he said when he was hired, that we have a great nucleus and he's going to bring a dynamic offensive scheme. I want him to be honest and say HE and his staff made some mistakes and he's going to correct them in year three.

And not to make this a Ryan Tannehill conversation, but that's an important part of the offense which is yoked to Joe Philbin. It's his job to coach up Ryan. He needs to personally be involved, and make sure he gets a LOT of off season help this year.

I think it is best not to do that.
Challenging them yes, "completely dressing them down", no.
It is not often, great relationships are built that way.

They are not going to respond to him and neither are the Coaches. Sparano went through the same thing in 2011. He will be fired during the season, making next season a total wash out. This is a damn disgrace!!!
 
dolphins need get one of them scout from ne, pit, sea,colt,sd,49ers,giants, these team draft good
 
If this report is accurate, they should have shown Philbin the door.
