Shanahan here??? We'd be stuck with his son too...haven't we now learned our lesson about the pitfalls of nepotism?
I'd be torn on that one. On one hand, I think he could turn Tannehill into a great QB. We would have a fun offense.
On the other hand, Mike Shanahan.

On the plus side he and his son did a great coaching job last year... really got the most you can get out of a middling talent in Griffin. His problem has always been defense. Even those great Broncos teams were mediocre defensive teams. Then the Cutler era Broncos couldn't win because they were abysmal on defense. And the trend has continued in Washington.
My bigger issue is with Kyle Shanahan, personally. He loved John Beck in college. Loved him. Here's a quote from a MMQB story:
"My first year as a position coach in the league, Houston had me scout all the quarterbacks coming out that year," Kyle Shanahan said. "That was the JaMarcus Russell year, with Brady Quinn, Trent Edwards, Kevin Kolb and Beck. So they asked me who I'd pick if I had the 10th pick in the draft. I told them Beck. They said he's not worth the 10th pick in the draft. I was standing on the table for him. I've never seen a guy play that well in college."

Deal breaker. An absolute deal breaker.
Plenty of people liked Beck. In all seriousness, Shanahan would be an intriguing option if Philbin is fired, assuming this story is true (and I believe it).
As I added to the post, he didn't just like him, look at the tape, and realize he was wrong. He had his dad trade for Beck and then started him in actual football games that counted.
man youre really gonna throw troy aikman into the mix? aikman was one of the most accurate passers ever and dallas went from 1-15 to 7-9 to 11-5 to the rest is history...i really dont know why you would compare aikman to tannehill, but whatever you write...
