Ricky's new comments irk me

I don't understand why people analyze everything Ricky, Saban, or any dolphin says. ESPECIALLY RICKY. The guy used to wear a helmet on his head during interviews.

This season has to get started already.

How does "moving foward" translate into "I want to be even better?" Did you not read his comments????? The man openly admits not expecting to get to the level he was at.

Because he said he's trying to go forward and not backwards.

He's basically telling you that he wants a clean slate, forgetting the past and just going from this point on as if he was starting over.

He's right. He's not the number one guy right now. He must prove himself all over again to everyone.

He isn't the type of guy to make flamboyant promises of greatness either so I dont know why your surprised that you ddint get a Bill Romanowski I'm going to crush everyone in my path type comment.

some of you people whin like little kids(enigmatics or what ever the name), all he was saying was he was moving forward, my understanding is that he was satating he's a different back now, not as heavy, probably alittle faster and probably would be a different version than before, i think people need to chill for a minute, and see how he does:fire:

..............I'll say it for the third time.........because 4 months ago he boasted to SI.com that he had 2 years and 4,000 yards left in him. Funny how his tune changed once he got back on the team.

No. I hate behavioral medicine and dread my psychiatry rotation that will be coming up next year. I'm one of the guys that will see a patient that wants to kill himself and tell him "Go Ahead!"

Patient: "Doc, what's my problem?"
Me: "You are F'n crazy, now when do I operate?"

Such compassion. With that attitude, you might be a good M.D. in a medical technician sort of way but you're going to be a lousy healer with crappy bedside manners. I pity your patients.

P.S. Physician heal thyself.

He isn't the only RB. I'm sure he wants to be careful not to step on anyone's toes. Stop taking his quick comment as anything more than it is.

I must have missed that post. WOW. If that's the attitude we are now training in medical school I pity the future of medicine. I might as well get out now.:shakeno:

Ricky doesnt answer to the media or enigmatics, he answers to Nick Saban

That interview sounded like someone fresh out of a 12 step program. Focusing on himself and what he can do now. Hes right to blow off all these media types trying to get him to commit to somekind of expectation or goal. The only thing he can control his himself and that means getting up tommorow and going to work, everything else will take care of itself. This is completely different than the "iwant to please everyone" Ricky. Good on him

...........most of you know that I completely disagree with having him on the Phins..........and perhaps I'm knit-picking a tad here, but Ricky's latest comments irk me.

I think it's great the man doesn't want to look back. That's fine, who legitimately wants to constantly be stuck in the rut of the past. Yet some of us have been questioning the man's heart and desire since he decided he wanted back. He's not really commented up to this point what he is set out to do now that he's back other than really general statements that most football players make........until now. The whole "I don't expect to get back to where I was a few years ago," just doesn't sound kosher to me.

A guy with passion to play again, would openly come out and say he wants to come back and dominate. Ricky's comments, to me, translate into "Ya I'm back, I don't want to be bugged about the past, just let me play no matter the result." Doesn't sound like lofty goals to me.

Anybody else get that impression?

I think your reading too much into it, I believe what he is repeating is basically what Saban has been teaching.

I think Saban the psych major has gotten into his head a bit and doesn't want Ricky dwelling on the past too much and basically wants him to focus on moving forward everyday, contributing what he can to this football team.

I think its a mistake to put to much emphasis on what Ricky says anyway, we should instead focus and judge him by how he plays and practices,

I think that's been one of Ricky's issues with football anyway. He has always tried to stay out of the spotlight. I took his comments to mean that he just wants to blend in with the team as opposed to being the star. He can be criticized for a lot of things, but I think this may be an empty criticism of him. He doesn't desire to be the star of the team, and he never really has desired to be the star of the team.
I think this point and the original point are both on-target. The quandary for Ricky is that the better he is at football, the more he's in the social spotlight, which of course is uncomfortable for him. The thing I see in his quote is that he isn't dealing with issues that probably stem from his past. The most common defense against dealing with past issues is to think that by doing so one is in a "rut" or "stuck in the past." You can deal with the past without getting stuck in it, and in fact, if you DON'T deal with the past then you become "stuck" in the present BY your past. Your past limits what you can do in the present and future until you deal with it and resolve it. He looks like a person to me who doesn't want to feel the pain from his past -- he wants to numb himself to that and "live in the moment." What he doesn't understand is that the type of "living" he does "in the moment" will always be regulated by how much past pain he's numbing himself to.

interesting that you mention it sounding like a 12 step progam. I watched a history of those types of programs on either A&E or the History channel or one of the Discoveries (I obviosly can't remember which channel) and most, if not all, "help" programs have there basis in some type of religion without actually preaching about religion of any sort. Mostly Budhhism, and Hinduism but also Christianity. Apparently all of them have parts of the "focus on the now" in them.

Basically I guess my point was that this should expalin why Ricky sounds like he just got out of a "12 step" program. So really, I'm not making a point.
