CK, While I respect your opinion and agree with almost all of your post, ROHAN DAVEY! I must respectfully disagree. I agree you must bring in guys or draft a guy and hope he suprises because legit starting QBs are not traded.
I happen to agree that Brees is not a perfect fit for our system if we are comparing our system to what was run in Minnesota. However we dont have a Daunte Culpepper or Randy Moss on our roster so Im tempted to believe we will not be running the same exact system Linehan did in Minny. Also, right now with RW and RB our RB corps is much greater than what he had in Minny. Both guys have good hands and are great catching passes out of the backfield. Booker also isnt a deep threat and is a great hands posession WR.... with all that said, Brees might not be a perfect fit but he would be a good fit. Brees to me is more of a guy who will not go out and win a game, but he wont lose the game. Brees does not have the arm strength that some of the other NFL QBs do, but he has shown great decision making last year and great accuracy. All of this might be moot if Feeley pans out but you always need a contingency plan.
I happen to think if AJ doesnt lock onto his WRs, he would be very good in this offense. AJ has a cannon of an arm and good accuracy.... sometimes too much of a cannon of an arm. AJ still needs some work with him but I think he has good starting points to be successful in this offense. With all the playmakers we have on offense, we just need someone who is going to be smart, make good reads, and get them the ball. We dont need a Peyton Manning at QB who is going to win the games for us, we need a guy like Roethlisberger who is going to get the ball to his playmakers and let them win the game, and that is how I picture Brees.
