rohan davey vs tim couch

what has davey done as a starter in any situation.

1. wins peach bowl as junior
2. sugar bowl mvp and victory as senior
3. wins world bowl and europe league offensive mvp w/ 105 passer rating

so as a starter all he has done is win. he has never had a chance to get into a rhythm behind brady. so what he hasn't done good in the most limited preseason. he needs to play more than a couple quarters.

he got a huge arm, great poise, great leader, and great pocket prescence. saban named him one of 3 captains as a junior before he was a starter. he has prior experience w/ saban.

couch can't even take the crowd booing at him. if dolphin fans start to boo him like the did fieldler he'd probably walk off the field and flip everyone off. he didn't make it out of green bay camp last year

davey has more talent in his little pinky toe than couch has in his whole body.

Mr "Dan Marino was overrated but Rohan Davey is the greatest" chimes in...what a shocker.

Some news for you...when a player is behind a 50 year old and a guy who never took a regular season snap in college on the depth chart that says something about your ability as a player...it says that you are garbage.

Rohan Davey has done a grand total of NOTHING as an NFL player. He MIGHT be able to play a little in Canada.

If he was such a great prospect then why does it look like the Pats will cut his a$$? Is it because Scott Pioli and Bill B. know less then you? The Patriots would'nt let a guy go who can play.

On topic: I think Couch is the epitome of a system Q.B. Without Hal Mumme holding his hand he can't do a thing. He's never stayed healthy either. That being said I'd give him a shot...you have nothing to lose.

No but they would let a guy go who didn't want to play THERE.

Just because the pats cut someone does not mean it's the end all for that player.

Couch, But truthfully I could care less about that as long as Gus looks like he is adequate. Why bother? Rebuild this year and pick up a QB that fits Linehan's system in next years draft.

Right I don't want either, lets play out this year and let Saban make a decision about the QB spot next year and address it through the draft or FA.

he's never had a shot to do anything in the nfl. it's like saying phillip rivers hasn't done anything. it's hard to do anything when u have never have played more than 2 quarters in a row in the nfl. if tom brady would have gotten hurt and he played more than one game then i would say ok. guys get let go by teams all the time and go on to have good careers. chauncey billups, being one of the prime examples. 3 different teams let him go only to have him become nba finals mvp. sometime it takes a different environment or different coach or time. terry bradshaw and vinny testerverde are good example of needing time.

davey kind of reminds me of dan in that he is a pocket passer who has great pocket prescence, makes little moves to avoid the rush, and just wings the ball out there. but he is a little bigger and he has won every important game he has ever been in. i realize a lot of u will never respect my opinion because i think that dan had at least some responsiblity in not being able to win the playoff games. i still think he is a great player. what can u do. but we are all dolphin fans :)

cool avatar btw

Couch is but one year older than Davey and has a 3,000 yard season under his belt. Davey's talent and ability to be NFL starting quarterback would have been exploited by the NFL by now if such talent and ability existed. If Couch is fully recovered from injury he could serve as a valuable second teamer.

Davey....

He's younger, he knows what coach saban expects out of his players, and he has more upside than Couch as well....

PHINZ RULE!!!

What upside?
I don't want anymore backups from other teams coming in here as projects.
Couch was the first overall pick, so there must have been something about him that the personnel people liked. I don't have a problem with bringing him in for a workout.
Maybe he needs the right system to succeed.
As much as I liked Butch Davis when he coached the Canes, he was a mediocre NFL HC and nearly all his top draft picks failed to live up to their draft status. Maybe it was the system installed there.

Couch took a pretty unfair pounding in Cleveland. They never had a consistent running game nor consistent Recievers. Butch Davis is an A-hole and drove that team into the ground basically pulling a Wanny. Couch has an amazing upside if his arm healed and if placed in the right system he could very well be the man. Last I saw of him though in GB his confidence was gone. Realistically I'd prefer to draft a qb, but we never seem to find the necessity since we passed on Loseman, Brees, Orton, and the list goes on... I'm getting even more bitter now about Orton. Watch as he gets his chance this year and becomes Chicago's qb of the future with Benson his RB.

Very true, though it's hard to know if his confidence was gone because he's done mentally or simply because he didn't possess the arm strength to be an NFL quarterback during that time. It's gotta be hard when you know you're arm is shot and you just can't make the throws. If his surgery proves successful, perhaps the arm and confidence both come back.

I would have no problem bringing in Couch for a look-see next week. He lives in Lauderdale, and we'd have nothing to lose.

Davey's main problem is accuracy. He has a golden arm, but is very erratic. In the NFL, you can get by with a noodle, but have good accuracy, not so much the other way around though
