Ronnie Brown v.s NFL (Carries)

LOL, not even a fair comparison, both guys were riding the pine behind Pro Bowl players; Ronnie has had the green light from jump street and has been "decent" at best . . . when the above two guys got the green light they shined right off the bat . . .

try again . . .

My question is why is there a Colts fan on a Fins board..?

there has to be a reason why he isnt given the opportunities??

Some of the blame has to go to him . . .

can he withstand the pounding?? has he ever been a fulltime back???

It couldn't possibly be the fact we had a tard for an OC and a hard core defensive minded head coach, right? They say you get wiser with age..I don't know about that. The proof is in the pudding. Look at his YPC and lack of opportunities..then look at when he does get the ball enough how well he produces.

With more carries, he's a top back in the league. And that's with one of the worst offensive lines. So, what happens if we give him more carries, a better line, and better QB play?

He will get another 1000 yard season

there has to be a reason for that other than the easy excuse of "our previous OC was an idiot" (not saying you said that but most others here have used that line . . .

and yes, Caddy broke down last year after being given the load, but he was rookie of the year . . . Brown hasn't ever carried the load over a multi-game stretch . . .

also, there is no reason to see the trend of carries change for Ronnie Brown . . .

the Dolphins didn't waste a 3rd on Booker to watch him distribute Gatorade . . .

The head coach said he wanted to limit Ronnie carries. He never gave a reason, so we as fans can only speculate. My only reason is that the coach didn't want what happened to Cadillac to happen to Ronnie.

Booker was brought to add another dimension to the offense, specifically on third downs.

one of the major reasons ronnie wasnt getting carries is because we were constantly playing from behind...... in many situations we got ourselves into too big of holes and had to throw all game

People use stats too often to try to prove a point, and most of the time they are meaningless, as stats can be used to prove ANY point one way or the other... and the number of carries in relation to a RB's success is one of the most overused and meaningless stats in football, in my opinion.

Is it the number of carries that determines a RB's success?? or is it a RB's success that determines the number of carries??

Personally I think it is more the latter.

If a RB is not having success, that leads to more third and longs, and more stalled drives... which mean the team ends up playing from behind and forcing the ball into the hands of a RB that is not having success would be sure-fire suicide.

On the other hand if a RB IS having success, you keep giving him the ball, it eats the clock, gains you yards, and has less of a chance of a disastrous play as compared to a passing play.
Stats don't make a point, it's the analysis of stats that do. Generally the RB's success determines number of carries, but anyone with internet can go look up play by play for each game and see a RB's success or lack thereof when the run was abandoned. There are a number of games where Ronnie was having good success running the ball and Mularkey abandoned the run. And sometimes you're just too far behind to keep running, check out the game log for the second game against Buffalo.

Ronnie is a second tier back right now, he is not a pro bowler, but he is not a scrub either, one year with Ricky, the next 3 games missed with a bad hand and groin. He still produced, and against some good teams, he ran all over the Bears for example, but until he shows that is normal for him, he will remain second tier material. The stats show he can play, but their are lies damn lies then statistics, at this point in time, no one fears Ronnie Brown running the ball..yet. I think this year he will have a serious pro bowl caliber year, if only because are line is better and even if Lemon starts, we will know that it will be Lemon starting not the CP/Joey circus.
