Root hard for AUBURN tonight

Good news: Steve Ross has a ****load of money. He has been buying tickets to prevent blackouts since he bought the team and reportedly offered a certain coach TEN MILLION DOLLARS a year (just a rumor, but that's the number I heard). Steve Ross is like one of the three richest owners in the NFL.

You are referring to the past right? This is pre-Philbin

I'll be rooting for FSU to lose more than I'll be rooting for Auburn to win, if that makes any sense.

That being said, I don't think a HC change is what the fins need. Granted, I would not lose any sleep if Philbin were canned, but I have no problem giving him one more year with this team.

What's completely inexplicable to me is how the OC and GM of this team are still employed. Both of those baffoons should have been fired a week ago. It's a damn shame that we are likely to have to live through this nightmare for at least another year.

Auburn ain't gonna beat nothing till they get to the showers after the game.

Did you make that one up by yourself or did uncle Sandusky help you?

And I'm gonna go as far as to say this:

I don't think NFL coaching experience is as important as HEAD COACHING experience. I think the NFL is a giant circlejerk of retread individuals and stale philosophies. Nobody's innovated a damn thing at the NFL level since Bill Walsh forced Dick Lebeau and a few other guys to come up with ways to slow the WCO. Chip Kelly is making straight fools out of guys who have been successful NFL coaches for 30+ years.

I want a guy who has a great understanding of the game and can manage a football team. A coach who will coach his players and not his system. You know who believes in doing that? Gus Malzahn.

Exactly. He's changed the emphasis everywhere he's been. This Auburn team looks radically different from Cam Newton era Auburn and different once again from the Tulsa teams he coached before that. He's just a great coach who's been successful everywhere. His last year at Tulsa -- hardly a powerhouse -- they beat two ranked teams.

And by the way... yes I'm a Gator alum so I'm not particularly inclined to like FSU, but I'm also not particularly inclined to like Auburn. This has nothing to do with either team specifically. This is about saving the Dolphins, which is the only team I've ever really cared about, in any sport.

Two things..

1). Jeff Fisher sucks
2). Malzahn is purely NFL OC material, not NFL HC

How long does he get to prove he's a great NFL coach? One year? Two years, even? No thanks, not worth the risk.

And its not just us taking the risk, why would he risk his career for a team and fanbase willing to oust him after one or two seasons? If he's as smart or as good as you think he is, he wouldnt.

Explain the 2011 Auburn Tigers then.

Much as I love Auburn for beating Saban, I will not root against a Florida team (unless they play one another).

My question is, whether they win, or get blown out by 50, does it matter? This guy turned around a team that didn't win a conference game, and took them to the national championship. He already has a ring as an OC (he was essentially the HC in 2010) and had the #1 offense in back-back years at FREAKING TULSA. One year they were #3 and #9 in the nation in passing. Gus plays to the strengths of his personnel.. I know, it's kind of crazy, a coach not tied down to his "scheme" the only reason why they run the ball every play is their QB Marshall is actually a corner. He played corner at Georgia before he left.

It shouldn't matter, but Ross has all the memory of a newborn kitten. A victory, or at least a good showing, would get his attention.

Unfortunately it seems like he's pretty much already made his decision or is getting ready to do so before the game is even played.

meh...................Jimbo Fisher is a better pro style coach.

I was/am holding out hope that the reason there has been no decision is Ross wants Malzahn.
