What I have a problem with is the idea that I or anyoneshould apologize to the people who made the best of a bad situation when theyare the ones who created the bad situation. When Parcells and Ireland came to the phins they talked about bringingin high character guys and then proceeded to bring in every problem child imaginableand routinely looked the other way when their players got in trouble.
The truth is there is an easy road and a hard road. The easy road is filled with quick fixes withhigh priced free agents and flashy trades. The problem is this road often doesn’t get you where you want to go; in fact,I’d go so far as to say it never gets you where you want to be. The hard road takes vision and commitment. It takes the realization that there are noquick fixes. Only hard work anddetermination will get us to our destination.
As I see it we have a Coach that want to take the hardroad and a front office used to taking the easy road. I hope the Coach wins out but with all thepressure to do what’s flashy and sells tickets, I think it is only a matter oftime till we are riding him out on a rail. It makes me puke every time I read somethingabout bringing in this FA or that one. Idesperately want an organization that wants to recruit and develop its owntalent. I just don’t see that with ourownership or front office.
