Rotoworld- Dolphins trying to sign smith at $8 million per year

Jason Cole just said that Smith is going to wait until Manning makes a decision. If Manning doesn't go to San Francisco, Smith will go back the 49ers because according to Cole, he wants to remain in California. The talk of Miami negotiating a contract with him seems to be yet another jump of the gun.

Smith is not coming to the Dolphins.

Damn....... Was kind of getting excited about the idea

How accurate is this guy? Or is he one of those reporters who speculate all the time, does he have quotes from Smith, a "source"?

He goes on to say he asked around and contacted people.

He is the guy that also first reported that Ireland was low balling Flynn.

Figured this...

Thanks for the info.

Seems like all these QB's are just using the dolphins so that the other teams come through with the cash. Don't see Smith coming here. Looks like it will be Moore as the starter next season. Good thing Marshall was traded since he put Moore under the bus at the Pro Bowl.

but Schefter reported that our offer to Flynn was comparable and wasn't a low-ball offer, so who the hell knows. . .it all depends on who he's talking to, I don't think anyone near the negotiations is just going to randomly spill some beans for this guys blog. ( or whatever)

Live in the bay area, always liked Alex strong ARM,not really a WR core in San fran. ALEX's my pick

Alex Smith - QB - 49ers

According to the Denver Post, the Dolphins are currently negotiating a contract with free agent Alex Smith that would pay him $8 million annually.

The Dolphins are so desperate, after losing out on Peyton Manning and Matt Flynn, that they're now willing to significantly overpay a borderline NFL starter at near the level of franchise quarterback money. Matt Flynn only got $6.33M annually from the Seahawks. Smith isn't as physically talented as incumbent Dolphins starter Matt Moore, and he's certainly not worth more than Flynn. At this point, it's almost like the Fins are trying to sign a quarterback, just to sign a quarterback.

The pain just will not stop today............crap :-(

Regardless of the facts, we are a joke.

PLEASE don't chime in with evidence that, in some magical fairy way with a secret source of pixie dust, we are actually making proper moves.

We're on our 8th interim or permanent HC since Shula left. Soon to be 17th starting QB since Marino. Throw in a few regime changes, Culpepper/Brees fiasco, Marino begging Manning just to say "hi", Ricky's antics, Marshall's antics, low balling the few FA's that will visit us, taking other team's retreads and rejects and scrutiny and ridicule from most major media outlets.

There used to be a time when I felt sorry for fans of teams like the Bengals, Lions, Raiders, Saints, Bucs and Cardinals. Yet the reality is they've all gone to the post season or won the SuperBowl in recent years. Except for a few post season appearances here and there, we've done nothing since Marino retired.

Maybe we do need Tebow. As it does seem as only the Lord Almighty could save us.

This reminds me of the Matt Moore signing over Kyle Orton last year. LMAO. Yeah I know, you guys know more then Ireland and he sucks.

This Denver post is leading the industry in bull**** reporting.

You think we're in deep crap? Imagine the situation the 49ers could be in in a few days...Harbaugh might have to come out of retirement.
