RUMOR: Dallas interested in acquiring Lamar Miller

No way would I trade Miller right now, unless of course they offer something crazy like a first round draft pick. I might consider it later at the end of training camp when I can see what other backs are on the market that I can replace Miller with and asses how Ajayi's knee is doing. Teaming Ajayi with a big back like James Conner in 2016 could be fun.

Tell them they can have Ajayi for a second round pick. That's a quick profit, turning a fifth round pick into a second round pick in one month. p.s I'm joking I know they would not do this.

I thought I had read it somewhere, but I could be wrong. Doesn't matter, 2.0x10^-32% chance that they make that trade, even if they can.
Probably, but if they are truly interested in Miller I sure would find out what they want for Collins

I'm sure they would, but they'd probably get laughed at given the likelihood that Collins replaces Leary and eventually Free on the extreme cheap. Unless they're rehired Jeff Ireland, of course.

Is starting LG Ronald Leary good enough to trade for our starting RB - or would either team have to sweeten the pot with a late round pick?

The issue is Dallas doesn't run the same blocking scheme we do so their lineman aren't necessarily plug and play for us. Rather than a player-for-player trade, if this were really happening, it would be better for Miami to get the draft pick...and it would have to be a 3rd round pick or better IMO. We're not the team hurting for a RB, they are.

I still don't buy the story. There were plenty of RBs available late in the draft that Dallas could have drafted. Was OT Chaz Green, who they took in the 3rd round at pick 91, really needed or even better than Mike Davis (4th round 126), Javorius Allen (4th round 125), Jay Ajayi (5th round 149) or even Cameron Artis-Payne (5th round 174)? I didn't think Chaz Green was very good. They probably wanted David Johnson from Northern Iowa who's game is a lot like Murphy's but he was taken at #86 5 spots ahead of them.

@ OP - thanks for sharing.

A bit of a stretch, but perhaps a trend developing?

Jerra Jones - Arkansas
Darren McFadden - Arkansas
Kniles Davis ... Arkansas

Conincidence? probably, but I do suspect they go with Davis - in my view, he's a better back than Miller

They could have had ajayi at any point of the draft if they wanted him.
No team would trade a second for Ajayi that quick, they all had chance to draft him or trade to draft him.
It was strange that Dallas did not draft a runningback. After drafting Gregory I thought they would trade up to get a runningback.
There were still plenty on board when they drafted Chaz Green in 3rd . They also passed in 4th round to select Damien Wilson.
I don't think they had any interest at all In Ayabi and could have easily traded with us to get him in draft.

It would be really stupid for us to trade away Miller unless the offer ludicrously overmatched his value to us. Without a guaranteed replacement on the roster (Ajayi is no guarantee until we see him on the field and he stays healthy for a minimum of a full season) it's just not happening.

Exactly

Trading Miller would be a Jeff Ireland type of deal. The fact that Miller made good improvement last season and ran for nearly 1100 yards, why do you now want to get rid of him? Why try to help the Cowboys? The people eager to trade Lamar are the sort of people who got major thrills out of trading Wes Welker and Vontae Davis.

Lol why the Eff would we trade lamar miller?

Because he is a limited, pedestrian rb who needs holes to run through . He cant make his own thing happen. Only ONE memorable play in his 3 years. Had it not been for that huge hole opening right in front of him and the defense sucked up to the line creating a perfect storm in that final game of 2014, lamar miller wouldnt even be a 1,000 yd rb!!! One play in the very last game that gave him a 100 yd shot in the arm. He barely squeaked the 1,000 yd mark (no big deal on its own) with a qb who threw for over 4,000 yds!!

He is not the caliber of a rb to lead the teams ground game. They drafted Jay Ajayi because he IS a big play rb. They also know Damien Williams is a better rb. And that is why they absolutely would trade Miller if someone actually wants him.

Lamar Miller is the perfect example of the dolphins fan untouchable. This team has been so void of real talent for so long that if any player makes some big play, they are now untouchable and elite. They have finally broken out with that play, improved and ready to take over the nfl. Even if its still the only memorable play 2 seasons later, he is still the man and everything else is holding him back. Ronnie Brown was the last such Dolphin fan untouchable "stud". Guys are talking like Miller is some year in, year out 1400 yd, 12 td rb!!

If they can trade him? Fine. If not, than he is insurance for the rb stable. But know this...., Jay Ajayi was drafted to take Miller out of starting, go to rb position. The team knows Miller is an average rb who doesnt make or create big plays as a starter should.

Good on them!!

We won't be a player in FA.
Keep Miller, let him walk next year and get compensatory pick.

I'd be fine trading Lamar. Ideally for OL help and a late pick. I probably wouldn't actively search but if something came up definitely interested. Fact is he's a speed back with limited ability in the passing game. Doesn't run with a lot of power or elusiveness. He's a decent #1, but I'm high on Ajayi and think his skillset is far superior to Miller's if he can stay healthy. I wouldn't be entertaining this, but it is the final year of his deal and longterm he's replaceable.

With a decent O-line Lamar Miller can be a force to be reckoned with, as we saw last season. I have no doubt about that.
The question is, would you get the same production out of Ayaji, Williams, and LMJ, plus adding a FA RB like Moreno, with that same-or-better O-Line? I'm leaning towards, likely Yes.

Glad to see you talk about Christine Michael hoops, I've always thought he had freak talent. Maybe not quite AP, but AP-lite or so
