RUMOR: Developing Story: Matt Moore on the Trade Block !!!!!!!!!!!!

Never said I knew more than them. Just because he was a team favorite that year doesn't mean that somehow his voting as MVP is some type of gospel. NFL coaches and players along with fans also voted Brandon MArshall to pro bowl that year is that gospel that he was awesome.
Im glad though that he can put that team MVP trophy up and look at it as he journeys from one teams backup to another for the rest of his career.

Its not hate its reality that MAtt Moore is nothing more than a journeyman qb. He is a solid backup no more than that

Your snooty comments dissing his MVP trophy .... c'mon bruh, pretty clear there's more to your feelings on this one.

He's a solid backup worth the 2 year $8million deal he signed in summer 2012. How you can't comprehend that is beyond me. Again, booger eater mathematics of the over-reacting fan mentality ...... just fixate on 1 year of the entire contract, but don't throw him any praise when he took less of it in year 1 so the team could spend more money on other needed free agents. Sounds legit.

Makes sense.

Snooty , Team MVP means nothing in reality. Many backup qb's have came on and did much better than MAtt Moore throught the NFL and many have done worse.
Almost every player gets a lower 1st year salary. The reality of the matter is he got 4 million a year if we keep him which would have been better served on a starting lineman.
The guaranteed money is what matters. His money last year had no affect on free agents he was guaranteed to make 4 million no matter what happened. He didn't take less Im not sure how u cannot see this.
He signed a 2 year 8 mill contract and 4 million was guaranteed. No matter what he would make his 4 million.

........and his guaranteed money was fair value. Remember this argument was about whether he was overpaid and he's not! He took a small base in the 1st year so the team could spend it elsewhere on other areas of the team. With the signing bonus he only made 2.5 million that year. So again UNDERPAID. Now you want to deny that because some anecdotal evidence that players always do that? LOL

Your logic is flawed because regardless he was making 4 million. Almost all players get a lower first year base. That's like saying Wallace did the team a favor by taking a low first year salary and ignoring how much bonus money he receives along with guarantees.

Even at $4 million, Moore would be the highest paid backup in the league. So let's not act like he's a bargain

Picked so late? Granted he wasn't a top 10 pick, but he still went in the first...

But about Moore, I don't buy the rumors truthfully, I'd hope to get atleast a 5th or 6th for him, but really don't see it.. No reason to pay a back up so much if you can get similar production for a fraction of the cost, though I'm not enamored with Quinn. But who knows what will happen

Hey Trav,

Yes, you're right. I should have clarified by posting he wasn't drafted at top order as expected.

The thought of him at the QB position gives me a case of the hives.

Its not hate its reality that MAtt Moore is nothing more than a journeyman qb. He is a solid backup no more than that

And every team needs one of those. He is one of the better backup QBs in the league.

I wouldn't trade Moore for peanuts, or to have Quinn as my number two. I would, however, trade him for an upgrade at LB or OL, but I still wouldn't have Quinn as my number two. But I'm not Lazor, who I imagine has had valuable input here -- and can't begin to know what he's thinking.

Tanny hasn't even led this team to a playoff spot, yet you want to burn Moore for it? Btw Moore won more than a game or two for us. So your math is off.

There are no "young QB's" to develop this year as we didn't draft any. The Fields for MVP thing is comical.

My math is off? I said that Moore went 6-6 (games 5 through 16), and he finished game 4 after Henne got hurt (another loss). I never said that Moore didn't win... just that his record was .500 that year.

"Tanny hasn't even led this team to a playoff spot, yet you want to burn Moore for it?"

I have no idea what you mean by this. The point I was making is that Moore is a career back-up; I would never use him as the starter for all or most of a season. This opinion has nothing to do with Tannehill. The gist of my post was that IF Tannehill doesn't become the QB for the future, then they should have another one or two QBs in the wings to develop. We should know more about Tannehill this season, but IF the team wants to go with another QB, then Moore IS NOT the guy.

BTW, Fields was one of the few players who was solid all year. He's a more logical choice for MVP than a QB who went 6-6 as a starter. (However, to be fair to Moore, QBs are judged by their win/loss record, which never tells the whole story of their actual play.)

Team MVP what a joke. He asnt the best player on the 2011 team. Reggie Bush and Brandon Marshall had better seasons.
As for other backup qb's yes there have been plenty that have came on for their teams and played better than Moore did that year.
Matt Casell when Brady got injured, Josh Mccown last year, ToM Brady when Drew Bledsoe got injured. There is actually quite a list.

Reggie Bush didn't have 100 yard game until week 7, after Matt Moore took over, and didn't total another one until week 11, after Moore had lead some surprisingly dominant victories on the strength of his arm (and he was a non-factor in several of those games). Nearly half of his yardage came in the last 4 games, after Moore had established an aerial attack that lest we forget actually was one of the league's best in chunk plays. It's pretty clear that Moore was the impetus for success, not Bush, and that Bush fed off Moore. As for Brandon Marshall, I think it was one of the worst moves in Dolphins history to trade him (and that really is saying something considering our history), but he was given opportunities to make a lot more plays than he ended up making, and every TD catch he got that year (which was only 6, not really an MVP caliber #), he failed to reel ones in that he could have gotten. Though most Dolphin fans are pretty agreed it was a bad trade after it happened, many people here didn't think he was pulling his weight before he was traded. He was viewed as a disappointment and I'm sure the team felt the same way. Not an MVP.

Isn't team MVP voted by the players? I think they would know pretty well who to attribute their success to.

Well to me it isn't the compensation for Moore, it is more the can Miami do anything with the added cap space and roster spot? You just aren't get a lot for Moore other than cap relief and/or a cheaper backup option.

Although I would like the cap space and roster spot, I do want some sort of depth behind Tanny though I think it is nuts to keep three QBs. If we had a promising draftee waiting in the wings, I would be all for it.

Santonio Holmes just got brought in by the Bears off the street. Why? Because they cut a guy they thought was expendable (Earl Bennet) based on his salary and it ended up that they needed a backup WR because the thought of going into the season with the guys they had was terrifying. Moore is expensive for his role, but we still need a backup QB. I'm not confident anyone on the market could do half as good of a job, and the thought of us bringing in some washed up has been or never was off the street when/if Tannehill gets injured because we need a QB is just a sad proposition to me when we already have someone capable hear.

Quinn signed a 1 year deal for $850K, and have heard there were zero guarantees. What does that tell everyone?
