Rumor: Philbin wanted to trade for Albert. Ireland said no

So what, Joe Philbin vetoed that deal, is that your theory then? Ireland was really the one that knew the o-line was a disaster but Joe Philbin was talking him off the ledge? It has to be one or the other, either Ireland knew the line needed fixing or Philbin did and the other disagreed.

What? No none of that makes sense. They both knew. This OL was a team failure. A joint effort. Glue at the hip. Philbin wasn't strong enough or ... let's change that to passionate enough. And Ireland didn't take it serious enough.

They knew he had issue but thought they could skate by.

A ridiculous risk if you ask me.

Sounds about right. The Oline was indeed everyones problem. An organizational failure between the GM and coach. Ireland took the bullet this year. Philbin will next year if things don't improve.

I doubt that. Ireland is all about big Tackles. Philbin is all about athleticism. I also think drafting Martin was Philbin's idea since that whole draft reaked of non-Ireland moves.

:rolleyes2:

This must be the worst, absolutely worst statement I have ever read in a forum.

I take it you are a huge Schwarzenegger fan. I mean, I believe any man in his right mind must at least like the guy but you had a poster on a wall once upon a time. "Get daoon! Im taking Alebet to the choppa now!"

Definitely a fan of Star Wars, "This is the tackle you are looking for."

Nah. I gotcha pegged. "Im gonna make you an LT offer you cant refuse." Right?

Just caught this. Lol ... this is pretty good.

But no, sorry, I'm not an Arnold fan, or Pacino's or Jedi's. Although my dominate rooster is named Vader.

This is interesting: I'm told Philbin wanted to trade for Branden Albert last year but Ireland said Dolphins would be fine with Martin at LT

Take it how you want.

so what happened with brandon marshall?

I bet getting rid of bush was also on ireland, as was hiring cam cameron, drafting Ginn and his family, hiring saban, taking culpepper over brees, and finally ireland made sporano fist pump after every field goal...now that hes gone everythings gonna be alright...

Nah, most of that was Parcells, Ireland didn't have final say until Nov 2013.

You dont have an example of a coach overruling a gm with full powers over trades and the roster do you..... It was a daft point to make.

I dont know if Philbin did or didnt want albert but he could not force Ireland to do anything... that much is a fact.

Until you provide the proof that NCFF13 is asking for, then the bolded statement above is just as much "fact" as NCFF13 saying that a coach can overrule a GM.

Come on, It's rather pointless and trivial

Proof? Ireland was the gm with contractual control over the roster, trades and the draft thus couldnt be forced to make any trade.

There you go.

Thing is ... UK is arguing wording I never used. Not once did I say that a coach can override a GM with final say. I've simply made the argument that a strong coach could get what he wants, and that I believe Philbin to be weak.

He continues to ignore of course, that Ireland did in fact explore a trade for Albert, thus rendering his assertion that Ireland was adamant about NOT wanting to deal, baseless. And yes, pointless.

Maybe its the deceased blaming the deceased. It wouldn't surprise me at all if Sherman is the "source" and he's doing his buddy Philbin a solid.

That's a pretty good theory. Hmmm... wouldn't surprise me either.
