LOL. No, Surferosa, taking the second one first, I'm a native Floridian. I named myself here after my poodle. He was lying beside me when I discovered finheaven and created a user name. My dog is named Awsi. My sister named him that. She was a huge fan of the group INXS, who were Australian. When I was a very young kid I called our dog a dooger and my parents made a big deal about that, so it sort of stuck.
I used to be a regular guest on a radio sports talk show in Las Vegas during football season, handicapping football games on Saturday and Sunday night. It was a two-hour show. We would preview the following Saturday's college games the previous Sunday, and analyze the NFL games one night before on Saturday. I really enjoyed it. The show was held in the sportsbook of the Stardust and drew a huge live audience. It was a 50,000 watt station (KDWN) so the signal reached California and throughout the West Coast.
Since I focused on personnel quite heavily during my game analysis, they invited me back the show before and after the draft to give my opinions. Obviously I was wrong plenty of times, but years later I prefer to remember the successes. I also said Todd Marinovich would flop, which drew at least a half dozen irate calls from California.
A few years ago a private group bought out that time block so my friend lost his hosting role and I'm no longer on the show.
