Saban Blows It And Cuts Q. Williams?

How about this thread...link....where's the football talk???

get off your high horse fin-atic....DOLFANMIKE started this thread and he poured his heart out in this thread, this thread means something to HIM.....Your comments are a slap in the face to HIM and those of us who posted in this thread.

Who are you to tell anybody else what they should and shouldn't be talking about?

That's all I'm going to say about it. No one wants to see us bickering so what I'm going to do is have respect for everyone else and shut my mouth now.

Sorry, Mike...and everyone else.
My comments are not a slap in the face to anyone except you who tend to turn into a drama queen whenever it fits your taste or your purpose. I also notice you go through great lengths to mess with me. But that's fine.

My comment about this thread has nothing to do with the invidiual who started it. It has to do with the purpose of this site and what I percieve to have been the ground rules all along. That it is for Miami Dolphin football. We all have things in our lives to talk about and share, victories and pain. But that is not what I come here for.

Dolphin Mike if you are "slapped in the face" by my comments than I apologize to you, but it is not personal. The title of this thread lends that it is about football, and it is not.

Infinsible I am tired of your schtick, and your pointed efforts to dog me all the time are boring. I would appreciate it from now on if you have anything to say about me you do it via PM, and let other people stick up for themselves. If I offend Dolphin Mike then its between he and I. No one appointed you protector of the world. If He has issues with my comments or anyone else, then he can PM me and we can deal with it in private. It serves no purpose having these exchanges in public on an other wise entertaining, and football oriented site.

PS
Get your facts straight, I did not start that thread. If you will notice my comment is a quote. This was part of an existing thread that the Mods broke out into its own topic.

Another example of how you twist things and react before yo have any clue what the heck your talking about.

Textbook passive-aggressive responses. What a disappointment. I'll post again when this is all over. :shakeno:

The original post in this thread is very football related. DolfanMike was sharing his views on handling discipline as a coach.

I also notice you go through great lengths to mess with me. But that's fine.

When you walk around being bombastic all the time you'll find that there are many people that "go through great lengths to mess with" you. Just because you find someone that consistently argues with you when you say something controversial, it doesn't mean they're going out of their way to do it. I go out of my way (go overboard, too much research, too many words, etc.) all the time when I argue with people, but that is because I love arguments. People have accused me of targeting them before, and have said stuff to me like "I could tell you were going to do this just because I disagreed with you last week about such and such" What they don't understand is a few hours after I'm done arguing with someone, I completely forget WHO I was arguing with, I only remember what I was arguing about. I would imagine it is the same for a lot of posters around here.

You know this is whole lot of crap over the simple comment that I said I don't think this thread is football realted and doesn't belong.

Infins turns it into a personal issue, and people start focuing on me. I have nothing against Dolphinmike or his topic, I just do not think it belongs here.

Mike is a big boy. If he finds excpetion to my post let him PM me and stick up for himself. If you disagree with my assesment on how appropriate this thread is in this forum, then just say "Hey I think it belongs". But to turn it personal is uncalled for.

As for being "Bombastic" I think for the last six months since the end of the Wanny era, I have been extremely positive and upbeat on this site. My 18 month campaign against Wanny/Fiedler/Speilman was justified and in the end the facts bore me out as being accurate.

For my entire membership prior to that, I was positive. But the truth was what it was.

Whatever. My assesment of Infins is right on the money. It was a personal attack.Sure I expect a certain amount of argument and reaction. But he borders on stalking.

Mr. Infins and I have taken our gentlemenly discussion to the world of PM.

So I kindly ask the Mods to close this thread and discard it. It certainly got way off topic and even more out of hand.

If you choose not, that's okay. I am done here.

My final apology to anyone who was offended by my comment regading this thread, especially Dolphinmike.

Mike, I'm not trying to question your ethics, it was a great post, but there is certainly a perception that your star running back would not have been treated this way.

Anywhere that I'm the guy in charge, it means absolutely zero whether he is a starter or not. I see coaching as another form of education. The reference letting you know that he wasn't a starter was to let you understand that on the field he had very little to offer the program, and likely wouldn't ever be in a starting or even immediate backup role. While I understand the concept of giving better players longer ropes, its completely against the things I try to do at my level. I'm an educator before I'm a coach. Coaching is just an extension of the school.

The primary force that led me to begin this thread was just my desire to let you Dolfans see an aspect of things that you may not have experienced if you haven't coached. Again, I cant tell you how common it is to have to make a team decision and then get railed because people on the outside (parents, fans, etc) don't like your decision. It's a brutal part of the profession and just since the time I started this thread, I have had a near miss on with a parent already starting up BS BEFORE we've had a single day of practice this off season. The issue was because they disagree with my policy that we can't commit to playing all of our players every game at the high school level.

BTW- Did I mention that at my new school in So Cal I'll have up near 120 players on my Frosh team this year?(I moved schools and resigned as varsity OC to work close to home and collect about 8 k more per year in salary with less work). I'm not sure how that works out mathematically but I'd guess it would be quite the trick and not a real competitive move. The parent called around, somehow found my new unlisted home phone number, stirred up a bunch of other parents (without ever talking to me) and left me to ignore the situation or put out fires.....Ah another day in coaching!

.

I've read you many times, so I didn't take it as aslap in the face....but then again anytime someone tries to put a crush on a thread you've started its a little offensive.

My main feeling was that I didn't understand why you didn't see how the topic related to football or the Dolphins. This thread wasn't intended to discuss drinking or alcohol. It was about tough decisions in coaching, and how forces on the outside constantly try to hang you by your balls when they usually don't have the facts that led you to the decision that you made as a coach. The whole concept of fan, parent, etc intrusion is important in the Miami Dolphins and is a big reason (IMO) why Saban has some of the polices that he has. People still don't get it, but I see exactly what he is doing and why he is doing it.

Thank you for your understanding. My comment about where this thread should have been was not on your topic that you started, but really about where thios thread ended up which was an ongoing discussion about alcohol and driving etc. I was fine with what you started. Either way it was not a big deal to me. I just made the comment in passing, and then someone went nuts with it.

I am glad to know you were not "slapped in the face", and I do appreciate your perspectives as coach. I always enjoy your stuff and your take on the game. I think this whole thing was blown out of proportion.

I look forward to better discussion in the future.

Come on man. There are many of us, like yourself, that have been around these boards a long time. It's like we all know each other, heck some of us do. Let the topics be what they may. If it's something you don't come here for, then just skip it.

Exactly. :)

Like I said, it was just my thought. If anyone feels insulted or put off I apologize. It certainly is not this big of deal. It REALLY has gone on too long and gotten way out of hand. I just made a comment. I still believe it but I certainly yield to the majority.

Well, we all know the fin-atic sticks to his guns. Nothing wrong with that. I just thought I would chime in with my two cents worth. I don't see any broken fences here that time won't heal. ;)
