Saban not ruling out Sage

Sage did it vs Scrubs. My god, I can't believe you actually think Sage deserves an opportunity to start. The guy has been a scrub in this league for years. Plays every preseason game vs 3rd stringers, puts up numbers against nobody's and you want to START him when has yet to start a preseason game.

I think what we saw last night is Gus solidyfing his starters job by default and Sage possibly moving up to second string.
another starter by default. maybe we should play the best numbers. i know the idea is old-school and a bit outdated but hey, lets give it a try.

So I guess you're saying this to Dave Hyde and Greg Cote too? Check their articles today.

I don't care what they have to say.

I can come up with an opinion on my own and don't need it to be re-enforced by a reporter.

If he considers Sage as the starter then Nick's stay in the NFL will be short.

Dont be such an idiot. If your looking at the game, you WILL notice that In no matter what situation its been in...Sage is the BEST QUARTERBACK the Miami DOlphins have on their roster! Feeley shouldn't even get a check from the NFL.

What numbers do you want to use? Just the ones you get to see, or would it be better to use all the performances that the coaches witness in practice?

YEAH?? What about last year against the Ravens? He played better in his 1st start of the year, then Feeley did ALL YEAR LONG. People just like to write him off as crap "because SOMEBODY didnt start him". I say screw that and Start whoever is BEST.

that's one reason why we find preseason play instrumental. it allows us to find out how comfortable players are on the field with their team mates.
what have the other two done against starters? i just dont see it?
give three valid, in-depth points to whoever you feel should start for us based on results this past preseason play.

i'm being sarcastic. what i am saying is that we should take QB who resembled a leader, not an outsider who failed to connect with the rest of his offense, thus, established numbers. and again, if regular season comes and sage starts and has a "bad game" (if) .... then he will be the one more likely to bounce back in game two.
numbers from practice? excellent concept. ***(sarcasm again)***

true. what we can say for gus and aj, we can say the same for sage as well. neither of these guys hasve ever been given a fair shake as of date.

we probably have three excellent QBs ove the course of a regular season and dont know it.

miami is the hardest place to play QB.

Mike, are you still looking for everything that came after that 7 by gus or are you ignoring me?

Then why has he been a fixture at the 3rd string spot, buddy? You have to earn the opportunity to start by consistantly showing the coaches what you have in practice. Sage had a good game....good for him. Maybe, if he has been producing in practice it will be enough to move him up a spot on the depth chart....maybe not. The point is that Sage has the opportunity every single day to earn a shot at the starting QB spot. So far he hasnt been able to perform well enough to even move off 3rd string.

well said friend,at least you are bringing a little sanity back to this board, I can't believe what I am hearing from some of us here....move Sage to starting qb...I think we are all panicking right now. Our qbs suck, not just now but since game 1 of pre season, in fact for years. Frerotte is just a plug for this year and Feeley was never the answer, but to move Sage to starting QB... of the Dolphins.... this is just scary, we would be the laughing stock of the league. I agree with you, if Sage is to be out starting QB he needs to earn that spot, not just by default...Sage has been here for years and his a$$ is still 3rd string. Sage never came across as a guy who had a burning desire to start for the phins, (that killer instinct if you will) he just looks pretty in his clean uniform holding his clipboard, and that's where he needs to stay.

Just want to give my opinions without bashing anyone else's. Remember we are all dolphin fans and this qb situation seems to have turned us all against each other. I hope you guys can respect my opinion.

I will start by saying I have not been biased on any qb this far. I havent formed a bandwagon, havent trashed or supported anyone until last night. With that here are a few of my points:

- Feeley was given a great chance to be this team's qb. I really cannot support him anymore. How long are we supposed to wait to see this promise everyone talks about. He is throwing balls into the ground for god sake. And it wasnt just last night. He wasnt good all preseason. He was also poor last year, and at that time I blamed it on the offensive line, but the fact is he is no good. Its time to move on. Starting him would only put us a step back. And it really aggravates me that he was given a chance and could not step it up at all. Seems like he cant be motivated. Some of you might think its crazy but id cut him and prove a point if I were Saban
- Frerotte has been very vanilla. He hasn't proved he is worthy of a starting spot. He misses on his deep balls and seems to make mistakes. However, on positive about him is that he looks decent in the pocket. Unlike AJ he looks like a confident QB most of the time. Im not saying he is good (he would be a solid #2 on most teams) but he is better than feeley.
- Onto Sage. He really has showed the most heart and talent out of the three IMO. He is younger than AJ which many people dont realize, and he is showing signs that he can really play. The one game he started vs Baltimore keeps getting brought up. I thought he was OK that game. Keep in mind it was his first start vs baltimore and our o-line was awful that game. When he did get the throws off he hit his spots.
- One last comment: I really don't think those of you who are claiming sage is only good because he played against scrubs have a valid argument. If you watch the game closely, he was able to look off the safetys and never stared down his reciever. He also put the ball to perfect spots, where it couldnt have been deflected (even by first stringers). All of these things are things are other 2 qb's havent been able to do. And they are things that dont make a difference what string you are playing against.

I have been an AJ supporter ever since we got him, but no more. This was the time in his career to step up, mentally and physically, and take charge of this team. He hasn't, instead he has seemingly shrinked in the face of the challenge. Suddenly it has become quite evident this guy will never be a stable, starting QB in the NFL. I wouldn't mind if Saban cut him, and brought in Couch, thereby making Sage the backup.

give sage a shot in the first 3 games if we lose we lose its not like we will make the playoffs this year anyway

You have no clue what you are talking about. Seriously. You are taking this preseason stuff far too seriously. These games dont' count for a reason.

Mod Note: Mike, you're a smart guy, so I'm sure you can find ways to present your argument without this kind of derogatory shot. No one around here has all the clues, and no one around here has none. It's a message board, remember?

Lighten up on how you address other members. Thanks.
