Saban not ruling out Sage

Saban isn't going to start someone just to see what he has. It's the regular season, and he wants to win. Frerotte has the confidence of Linehan, and again, I'm not putting any stock into these preseason statistics.

Frerotte has proven that he can handle the system, he's already done it in Minnesota.

Yeah he wants to win. And he has already stated to the media that he hasn't ruled out starting Sage. having confidence and having the ability to play are 2 different things . Gus has been a career backup . And just because he backed up in Minnesota and knows the offense doesn't mean he is the best choice.

I really don't usually put much stock in preseason games either but. They do give you a pretty good measuring stick of what your offense will look like in the regular season. And so far the only thing Gus has proven is he can't win over the coaches to be given the starting position.

Anyways its pretty much a moot point anyways. I trust in Nick to start a Qb . And if they fail move on to next guy until he finds that gem. I really don't care who starts. All I am saying is it really doesn't hurt to start Sage.

And Sage hasn't?

Listen, your points are fair enough. I really don't care who starts, I'm not on any so-called bandwagon. I just want the QB that gives us the best chance to win in there. IMO I feel like that is Frerotte, but I could be wrong, you've brought up some valid points and we'll just have to see how it unfolds.

Well Sage is the most mobile of them by far. If you remember I was a big Sage fan before. He's not a bad QB, but really stares down receivers sometimes. He has very nice physical tools however, is ballsy, and can make things happen.

Why does everyone keep tying these three QB's to Saban's tenure as an NFL head coach.. I mean really, do you really thing come next year these will be the same three guys competing for the QB job in Miami? I'm not a Psychic, but, NO, it won't! We'll get through this season as best we can with one of these three as our QB throughout the season.. then come next year, the draft or free agency will produce us someone different... so stop making it as if Nick's tenure in Miami is tied to any of these three guys

BINGO! Finally some sense! No way will Saban's job be affected by 3 QBs. By next season all three could be gone with the inconsistency they're showing! Sage really has done anything besides this game....and it was against reserves! I'm telling you, there's no way Saban will put up with this kind of QB inconstency if he has anything to do with it. Some way, some how he's gonna bring in a QB (whether through draft, free agency, or trade), if none of our QBs show they can get the job done, period!

Start Gus, toss Sage in at second string, and either use Feeley at 3rd string or cut him. We can bring in Brock Berlin, Tim Couch, or anyone else and it would be low risk high reward for us at 3rd string. How crazy would it be to see Feeley as part of the cut list on tuesday? It would send a message to the league and the the team that if you suck, no one is safe.
It's somewhat beautiful to see the Feeley fans turning on him. Im so glad this game happened now and not during the regular season.

I swear if we keep Feeley on our team after tuesday and cut someone like Manuel Wright (who can become amazing with enough guidance), I will be pissed.

Feeley makes 1 mistake and the world falls on him I didnt see the world fall when gus threw a pick there is not much difference bewteeen pick and pick 6, just luck So quit your crying for the preseason aj still looks better than gus it doesnt help he gets whole new line and wr's when he gets into game i mean wtf how abtut some first stringers nick to evaluate with?

It should be easier for Feeley to play 2nd what are you talking about...

Feeley just sucks, thats already a known fact!

Frerotte will start and he's only slighty better..

just hope that the running game can get going and Frerotte can work some play action passes..... and hope the defense jells....

it might be a long year

Made his 2003 debut on Nov. 9th at Tennessee in relief of Brian Griese and was 4-6 for 50 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions ... His first completion, a five-yard pass to Travis Minor, was the first completion of his NFL career ... His touchdown pass came on a 21-yard TD pass to Donald Lee ... It was the first touchdown pass of his career ..

Sage actually played well in this game, he came in and it was 37-0 Titans, and he lead the team down the field for the only TD for the fins. And yes it was against a first string defense that was trying to preserve a shutout and no it wasn't prevent.

Not saying he should be the starter but he has shown a glims of potential. Like a few others have said, if the season turns ugly give him a shot, or bump him to second string and give him some if gus tanks.

com on guys feeley played behind jay the noodle arm feidler now he is the new noodle arm on the block

Seems to me Saban made a boo boo here (to little fault of his own really), but one he might of avoided, in realizing his predecessor's demise was entwined with this same paradox of sorts, and surmised that Feeley's past history here, has involved a tendency to play only to the level of his current competition, but no better.

If Sage Rosenfels had been his only competition as starter, Feeley, like a consumate stalemate-artist, who occasionally squeaks-out, but never dominates his rivals, would of likely played to HIS shadow, and STILL would have left the picture unclear.
Once again, it ultimately required a decisive judgement, one that should of been final, when Gus initially earned it, the team, particularly the recievers had initially embraced it, and the one Wanny refused to make,
seemingly to the bitter end.

Sage won't start. If he was going to start he'd have some first team snaps this preseason. I would like to see him at #2 behind Gus though. AJ just seems to have panic mode way too much when the defenders are in pursuit.
