Saban not ruling out Sage

Hey, I'm not trying to polish a (couple of) turd(s) here. I'm just as upset that things seem as bad as they are. I just don't see starting Sage on what would essentially be a hunch before the other guys get a chance under real game conditions.

I have to say I agree with this.

Frerotte starts the season.

If he struggles after a few games then enter Feeley.

If by week 9 or 10 he is struggling too, then we were already having a bad season let Rosenfels finish it off.

Some will say this a bad strategy, but the only way Feeley starts is if Frerotte stinks, thhe only was Sage starts is if Feeley and Frerotte stinks. If they both stink we would be stupid to not give Sage a shot.

Scratch that. If Frerotte struggles after a few games then just let Sage finish off the season.

Feeley had his chance now let's see if Sage can get it done if Frerotte can not.

So right. At this point of the early season Sage has not seen any first string defenses or with our offense. Frerotte should be the starter, he's had the most work. If he fails after three or four games then move on to Feeley & give him the same opportunity. If he fails our season would be over by then so it wouldn't hurt to give Sage an extended look.

:yeahthat:

Lets be honest sage aint jack so you cut sage at this point and bring in Couch who is a gamer with 65 career starts and is 28 he learns the system if both the aformentioned qb's suck let couch play last 6 games while gettting aclimated to linehans offense and go form there for next season

Check the stats there buddy. Sage has out produced both AJ and Gus. by not getting the oppertunity to start, sage has not been given the opportunity to show what he can do.

So I guess practices don't count for anything then? He didn't do squat in Washington and he hasn't done anything in Miami. He's 27 or 28 and hasn't been above the 3rd QB on the depth chart.

He threw a couple of meaningless passes in a meaningless game and people are calling for him to lead this team week 1. Man, we have some fickle fans on this site.

Why in burning Hell would anyone in their right mind want AJ Feeley on this football team???????? How many INT's for TD's does he have to throw before you realize that he SUCKS beyond SUCKING?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...:shakeno:..:shakeno:..:shakeno:

There are several players in the league that don't practice well but tear it up on gameday. yeah the game was meaning less but the fact is he got his job done in every game he has played in this preseason and AJ and gus did not.

Also look at Kurt Warner he wasn't even good enough to make the NFL for a long time but he came back at a later age and won a super bowl and was MVP.

If anything this is the ONE game in preseason you shouldn't pay attention to. The last preseason game is the least meaningful game out of the 4 or 5 played, and that's saying something.

People calling for Sage to leapfrog 2 guys on the depth chart and go from 3rd string to starter are asinine. He threw 2 meaningless TD's in a meaningless game. Frerotte has proved he can produce in Linehan's system, just look what he did when he got the chance to play in Minnesota. Sage has been in Washington and Miami and proven, well nothing.

Move Sage to 2nd string, fine it's not like it matters. No way he should be starting.

P.S. I haven't seen the game yet, but as far as numbers, Frerotte's numbers point to him not playing very much at all. I don't understand why everyone is all over him??

Not saying its right or wrong but why not try Sage. Aj had his shot last year and during preseason. Supposedly Gus knows this offense which should give him an edge over the other guys but so far it hasn't because he isn't all that good.
So why not start Sage. If you look at Chicago they have a Qb that they drafted that basically leapfrogged all others.

Well Sage was the starting QB in Washington when da man from Fla, came in and decided he wanted all his old QB's who were drowning around the NFL..and he got them, so Sage was traded to us, I was excited then because I thought the kid had potential, but he never got a chance with Wanny, and I thought we wasted any developement time with him, so I let it go, but he does impress every time he's in there. I don't know if you guys remember, but he was the starting QB in DC when the skins played the 49er's in Japan and he led them to the 44-7 beating in Spurrier's first ps game.

I have always wanted Sage to get a real shot to see what he could do. Im sure Saban is trying to motivate the other two goobers but it would be nice to see sage get a few games to see what hes got.

I just don't see why you give up on Frerotte after a couple of meaningless games. If he's still having problems 5 or 6 weeks into the season than I can see where your coming from. And if that is the case, than I would be all for seeing Sage start a couple of games to see what he has.

But as of right now, all our QB's are crap and the least smelly one is Frerotte. He knows the system and gives us the best chance to win IMO.

It's A Tough Choice, But I Think They Will Go With Gus, Because He Should Be Familiar With The Offence. Nick Will Probaly Give Him 2-3 Games To Get It Togather If Not Then Aj Will Get The Nod.

I'm not giving up on Gus....But I have totally given up on Feeley.

I think we should start Gus and Cut Feeley right away....Make Sage the #2 guy and bring in Davey.

Not from what i have read and heard. Why would Saban basically keep the Qb position open if Gus was the best chance to win. I'll tell you because he hasn't proven he can. Even when he should have the upper hand by knowing this offense better.

If all our Qb's truly are crap then it really doesn't hurt to start a guy like Sage then. And we have already seen 5 weeks of Gus and Aj in preseason. And they really have not been all that impressive.

Saban isn't going to start someone just to see what he has. It's the regular season, and he wants to win. Frerotte has the confidence of Linehan, and again, I'm not putting any stock into these preseason statistics.

Frerotte has proven that he can handle the system, he's already done it in Minnesota.
