Saban not ruling out Sage

yeah? I can do math too JJ,

I can put 2 and 2 together and come up with these guys are pi**ing me off.

Hey, I'm not trying to polish a (couple of) turd(s) here. I'm just as upset that things seem as bad as they are. I just don't see starting Sage on what would essentially be a hunch before the other guys get a chance under real game conditions.

I know they both stink. Nobody is arguing that point. But calling for Sage Rosenfels who has had ZERO WORK WITH THE 1ST TEAM OFFENSE TO START is dumb beyond belief. Sorry, it just is!

I also realize he's had no work against the opponents' first- team D- but honestly, I just can't see how Sage can do any WORSE. I'm not even saying he'll do better- but how can he be WORSE than Frerotte or Feeley? That's a pretty tall order. Why not give him a chance and see? If he sucks, go back to one of the other clowns. The bottom line is our QB play this year will be horrendus no matter who plays. I'm saying play the guy that sucks the least. Maybe Sage can be that guy.

Even though I still support feeley as one play with second string garbage should not make or break his season we need to sign Couch and get him learning this system, he is a talent he went #1 for a reason!

I actually have a pretty good idea what I'm talking about there wise-a*s. I don't take the pre-seaon very seriously at all. However it would be nice to see some f*cking progress through 5 games from one of these morons. There has been none. Nothing but regression. They both get worse every week. It doesn't take a genius- which you obviously aren't- to figure that out. You'll see when the seaon starts and it's the same tired garbage.

If anything this is the ONE game in preseason you shouldn't pay attention to. The last preseason game is the least meaningful game out of the 4 or 5 played, and that's saying something.

People calling for Sage to leapfrog 2 guys on the depth chart and go from 3rd string to starter are asinine. He threw 2 meaningless TD's in a meaningless game. Frerotte has proved he can produce in Linehan's system, just look what he did when he got the chance to play in Minnesota. Sage has been in Washington and Miami and proven, well nothing.

Move Sage to 2nd string, fine it's not like it matters. No way he should be starting.

P.S. I haven't seen the game yet, but as far as numbers, Frerotte's numbers point to him not playing very much at all. I don't understand why everyone is all over him??

If he considers Sage as the starter then Nick's stay in the NFL will be short.

So right. At this point of the early season Sage has not seen any first string defenses or with our offense. Frerotte should be the starter, he's had the most work. If he fails after three or four games then move on to Feeley & give him the same opportunity. If he fails our season would be over by then so it wouldn't hurt to give Sage an extended look.

Start Frerotte, cut AJ.

I know AJ is a gritty competitor but he has mental lapses that result in INTs and fumbles, and no way was he worth a 2nd round pick. Just hope for next year that we can pick up a QB in the draft. Just face it now, this is a rebuilding year. Which totally sucks because our depth at RB is so good, possibly the best ever for our team. At least if we split the carries between Brown & Williams they'll both get 25 carries each and they wont complain about not getting enough work.

Sign a FA QB or keep Berlin to come in 3rd string. Hope for 8-8.

If we can just stop turning the ball over we'll be in better shape to contend in every game.

Remember though, we're talking about a guy that gave himself a concusssion after a touchdown thats going to lead our team.

IMO, regardless of what goes down at QB this season, we'll have a new Quarterback next year, and not just some undrafted free agent. I feel that even if somehow Gus returns to the Pro Bowl, he won't be the future. Same with A.J.

Personally I'm pulling for Chris Leak or Vince Young but the draft is too far away and college football is just starting so I don't want to spend my whole season counting down to the draft. For now, Ronnie and Ricky just pound that freakin' thing!

I think most on here expected saban to be able to play god and give these guys (meaning the qbs) talent/skills they have showed they don't have.... Gus will be our best option this year because of his knowledge of the system.. and i think we will be better then last year, but i think who ever it is will be a just a one year stop gap

I didn't see the game either. Maybe he didn't play that much- but just from reading what I read, Frerotte was horrendus. I realize Sage has NO shot at starting. But as I've said, I don't see how he can do any worse than how Frerotte and Feeley have performed. Neither of them (particularly Feeley) has shown any progress or any signs of improvement through these 5 games. That's all I ask for as a fan and all I look for in the pre-season.

Chris Leak is no where near an NFL ready QB.. ask any expert or scout, I have heard at least 5 in the past two weeks say that very thing.. Young on the other hand needs to develop some pocket presense and learn to be patient and throw the ball a little more instead of tucking and running so much... exactly what Vick had to learn and is slowly learning... Young would be intriguing if he shows he can hang in the pocket and rifle it down field now and then withouth tucking and running all the time..

The game is on at 2 for all you night-owls like myself on NFL Network. Just a heads up.

If we cut Feeley right now no team in the NFL would be interested in him except for a 3rd or 4th string spot on their roster....He just flat-out sucks the weeney!...And whoever said that Sage has had his opportunities is full of crap!...He has never had the opportunities that Touchy-Feeley has had as far as running a 1st team offense in regular season games....And another thing...There is no way in hell that Rohan Davie or Tim Couch are as bad as Feeley...I say dump his punk-as* right away!

While Frerotte and Feeley struggled, third-stringer Sage Rosenfels threw for 217 yards and two touchdowns against reserves in the second half. New Miami coach Nick Saban didn't rule out giving Rosenfels the starting nod for the season opener Sept. 11 against Denver.

"I was pleased with the way Sage played," Saban said. "It looked like he had some command out there and did a good job. Those things are factors that need to be taken into consideration. ...

"We want to pick the quarterback that's going to give us the best opportunity to win. I'm not prepared after watching that game to make a statement about that." I dont want Ferotte to start at all...He is supposed to know the offense and Aj still makes too many mistakes...Im not going just off tonight performance but I'd rather let Sage start the first four games and see how he does...If he does bad then let Feeley play the rest...you never know Sage could prove that when he does good in preseason it wasn't just because he was playing 2nd and 3rd stringers

no stay with 1 qb.this is 1 one the reasons we suked last year with wanny switching qb`s like he changed his undy`s it killed are team chemistry because the offense could not get use to 1 qb.if sage stinks up the first four games keep him at starter this 3-qb carisel(hopefully i spelled it right) is npn sense

He has had that opportunity and thus far has come up short.

Check the stats there buddy. Sage has out produced both AJ and Gus. by not getting the oppertunity to start, sage has not been given the opportunity to show what he can do.
