Sage and Brock have earned a shot!!

Rosenfels has earned the right to at least start one preseason game and see how he does with the starting line. Brock Berlin has also performed great. He should get a chance to go second, or start the next game. Sage was the best QB last night, and Brock was the best Monday. This is not a Frerotte and Feely bashing thread. I just think that the young guys have really stepped it up. Two times Brock has led the offence down the field in the two-minute drill, three times if you count the INT. Feely and Frerotte looked confused against the Jags. Both the young guys looked calm, and in control. The Dolphins get an extra preseason game this year; these guys (Sage, and Brock) should each get a go with the starters. If they are looking this impressive with the second and third stringers I’d like to see what they would do with the starters. Sage and Brock both look comfortable under center, and did not look ruffled when pressured. These are traits that I would like to see in the starting QB.

The Dolphins could definitely use Feely’s 3.5 million dollar contract to sure up the D and O lines. We could get several linemen for that amount of money. I expected Frerotte to be performing much better, especially since he’s been in the system for two years. I still wouldn’t cut Frerotte, he knows the system and would be good to have at the third spot. Not everyone is going to agree with this thread. Like it or not, Sage and Brock are not the ones that look like rookies out there.

Neither of those guys have earned a shot...Sage couldn't beat out Ears, for crying out loud...you all think that the coaching staff just looks at a couple of plays in the first and second preseason games ?? You gotta be kidding me...

Also, look at what Berlin did with all the talent he had a UM in the last 2 years ?? Not much...

I just don't see how folks can assert that Sage or Berlin can do anything in a real game....
BTW, we only get a cap savings of $1.1 if we cut Feeley (which won't happen even if he is not the starter).

please, everyone, do not confuse this new 17-0 character for me... I would never talk such nonsense as to suggest these two scrubs deserve a shot at starting in the NFL.

thank you and goodnight.

Ummmm, I feel it only fair to point out that Sage NEVER competed with Jay Fiedler for the starting position. Jay was Dave's boy and it is unlikely that Dan "The Man" would have been given the nod over Jay as long as Wanny was coach. So, your assertion that Sage couldn't beat out Jay isn't exactly correct..........Sage couldn't beat out Jay AND Dave.

Why not? We have a scrub competing with Gus for a starting position, don't we? The biggest difference between Sage and A.J. is that Sage doesn't whine and limp back to the huddle everytime he gets hit.

If you don't like my Threads don't read them or post to them.:fire:

And it's not like I said they should be the starting QB for the season. I would like to see play with the starting line, they have both outplayed Feely and Gus.

Berlin should get a look before sage. Alot of people think he would get destroyed in a real game. I would like to see that before I make up mind on him. Let him have a shot...

Hmm...you're actually arguing that Nick should give Berlin a shot for your peace of mind rather than going with Sage because that is what the coaching staff says is best?

Nothing is going to make me believe that Sage is worth anything than a third string QB. If he beats out Feeley for backup... that is a scary thought and if Gus was to go down expect bad things to happen. Sage is not going to be some big super star!! He obviously hasnt been good enough to even fight for a starting position or a backup position after 4-5 years in the league, what makes you think he can now?

Save for the trade to Miami last year, you could say all of those things about AJ.

Are you kidding me? The only person Sage couldn't beat out was Dave Wannstedt.

I've got news for you......if Feeley does beat everyone out, it won't be long before he is knocked out of the game and the next QB steps in. Either Feeley gets hurt in EVERY game or he is simply a drama queen. Hopefully Nick won't keep this guy around simply because we blew a second rounder on him. As for Sage not being able to start for the past 4-5 seasons, he NEVER had a chance to start under Wanny.....NEVER. Wanny had his man and that was Fiedler. And I will tell you something, I would gladly trade A.J. for Jay ANY day of the week. We clearly got rid of the wrong QB.

AJ won games in Philly as a starter, his record 4-1 as a starter, Sage has done crap, looked like a deer in the freaking headlights against GB (regular season game), SI magazine had an article on McNabb last year about the 2003 season and it mentioned that the 1st 4 games the fans in Philly were calling for AJ, not Detmer to come in and replace McNabb as he was playing like ****.

So no you can't say the same things about Sage. Right now they are all pretty sketchy, the only reason why Sage and Brock look half way decent is because they are scrubs playing against scrubs. If they were so bloody good they would be getting more 2nd team ops and maybe an occasional 1st team, but right now they are scrubs and maybe one day Brock can realise his potential and make a servicable starting QB, but neither are going to do it this year. What a waste of time to even let either of them start a preseason game, might as well have Ray Lucas back if we started doing that.
