Salary Cap-must read

Aponte did a great job with the cap. wheeler and ellerbes contract and cap hit makes me sick.

Yet she is bashed almost as much as Ireland was on this forum. Never understand the hate for her........jealousy maybe?

easy to have no cap problems when u never resign your own draft picks or cut players early.
Still creates a lot of dead money though

Ellerbe was the mvp of that defense for the Ravens just last year. maybe we should see how we utilize him first

and the previous three tears he couldn't unseat Jameel Mcclain so maybe without Ngata, Lewis, And other top defenders on that Ravens team he was exposed

Imagine if Ireland had hit a FA other than Grimes and had draft picks in 2013.

Get Wheeler to cut his salary in half to save money now by giving him a decent signing bonus but low base salary. Find his replacement now. Jason Worilds would be the bomb.

This is what will be exciting to a new gm. It's not as if they will have to spend years fixing cap AND making their personnel their own. They can come in right away and with a few moves and a draft have pretty close to a team they would like. Much better situation than most new gms get

3,000,000.00 for a punter.

2nd best punter in the NFL. I usually would say that's ridiculous but for Fields it's actually worth it.

Not so fast guys. Yes that cap number sounds good but don't forget we have some free agents too. If we let everyone of our free agents walk then yes, we have all that money but we'd also have mo holes to fill. Grimes alone will cost a real deal to keep him and if we keep either Starks or Soliai that'll take another big chunck of cash. Our cap space would not be as big now. Patterson will have to be let go Too much money for a guy that's always hurt imo. We're not cap hell but that number can be a little misleading.

Ozzy rules!!

Is that number with or without our cap rollover? Wallace's contract is high this year, but gets lower down the road because we have space now. We have to resign Grimes, one of Starks or Soliai, another CB or Carroll, another S or Clemons and rebuild the OL, besides Pouncey (may Garner can start or Brenner). We can re-structure Moore, trade or cut him. His contract is too much for a backup QB; if Devlin isn't ready to backup Tannehill, draft someone, if Moore won't restructure. Patterson has to be restructured or cut; plain and simple.

We really need to resign Grimes and Patterson. Hopefully Patterson can resign at a fair contract due to his lack of playing time. Some keep speaking about restructuring Wallace but the one who needs to restructure is Wheeler.

Cut Moore, please....like any good team(and we should start acting like it)....if we need to go to our backup, it's already bad. I'd rather have a 6 million dollar guard than a 2 million dollar guard and a 4 million dollar backup QB.

If the new GM thinks its a good idea to pay Matt Moore $5.5 million then fire him immediately.

Instead of cutting Patterson who proved he can be a good player when healthy, why not restructure him? We dont know what we have behind him with Taylor and Davis looking like caca when they played, and Carrol stepping up his game this season will warrant a pay rasie. Moore is an asset but not a necessity, if Tannehill could stay healthy with the amount of sacks he took this year, he can make it another year with a cheaper back up.

I doubt that we cut or trade Moore. Decent backup QBs are hard to come by. Plus Moore and Tannehill have a great working relationship.

I've always supported keeping Moore at all REASONABLE costs. The intangible value he has to this team and RT is almost unpriceable.

Young QBs need support within the organization and on the field. As a mentor, RT just lost Sherman (forget his play calling). I think Moore becomes more important than ever now.

Having a competitive friend on the sideline who sees the game the way you do and offers advice without worrying about his job has so much value on the field.

I remember the days when Kosar backed up Dan. I think those were some of Dan's happier years as a Dolphin. He always mentioned how invaluable Bernie was to him during the game, in practice and in the film room.

Franchise QBs should be surrounded by talent on the field and on the depth chart.

Factor in Moore's ability to come off the bench cold and win us games and you have one of the most unnoticed integral part of our future success at QB.

In a way, GB was reminded of that when they reacquirred Flynn and got back into the playoff picture. I don't think either side will make that mistake again. As long as money doesn't become the problem.

I would like to keep Moore but not at $5.5 mill. Restructure or buh-bye.
