Salguero: Ross will add franchise QB and superstar coach in 2012

This whole article reeks of part fact, part fiction. Some of those statements are ultra stupid for him to make at this point of the season. He basically would have called his QB's garbage wanna be's, and informed his HC and GM that they are crap and have no shot at a job beyond this season. He may not be a football genius but you don't get to where he is by being that dumb of a business man.

I believe he openly says that he wants to draft a top level QB, but I think from there someone took verbal liberties by stating "what they believe" he is thinking.

Why would he take a dump on pretty much all of the key people and then say that he is looking forward to turning things around this season and starting it by beating the Jests?? The two don't go together and he knows that!

did you read the article? He wants to hire a football person to run the show. Whether it be a coach who puts his guys around him to run the show. Or a football guy to be president to run the show.

ROSS GETS IT!! I didn't think he did, if this article/source is TRUE, then Ross does get it!! No more on the job training. And QB is priority 1,2,3,4,and 5. Nothing else matters till you fix that position! ROSS GETS IT!!!

what if that football person is Carl Peterson?

That the the whole problem in a nutshell, a business man trying to make football decisions.

Do you disagree with what he wants to do? The "football men" Jimmy Johnson, Bill Parcells, and even Don Shula haven't brought us a Super Bowl in 40 years.

Happens all the time. You know, like....a few months ago.

Wanna know how Dan Synder landed Mike Shanahan? Got absolutely wasted off Crown Royal after a week 3 loss, ordered his private plane to fly to Denver on a whim, and crashed Shanahan's house at 4 in the morning. Shanahan graciously let him(and his staff/friends) sleep there, then discussed the state of the Redskins and when he would come in and take over while chowing down on breakfast burrito's.
While watching NBC’s “Sunday Night Football” game between the Arizona Cardinals and Indianapolis Colts, the four men drank glasses of Sassicaia, a bold Tuscan red that is a Snyder favorite, those who were present said. They added that Snyder eventually graduated to Crown Royal.
Finally, Snyder turned to the others. “Let’s go get Mike Shanahan,” he said.

Owners(and gm's, etc) do this sort of thing all the time. It was the worst kept secret in the league that Cam Cameron was going to be fired for Parcells guy Sparano. It was the worst kept secret that Scott Pioli was going to hire Todd Haley. Ross is laying down the ground work because he knows how this will end.

Ross actually does seem to get it.

He made a move to get Harbaugh in the offseason, he saw a chance and took it. It was long shot that failed, but at least he tried.

He knows we need a real QB and vetoed the Orton deal, even though everyone here wanted him. Looks pretty darn smart to me.

He inherited a problem and seems to be making the right decisions after giving the current guys a chance.

enough talk- its been 10 plus years. Just do it. Period

Not everyone.. or probably most anyone who read the Broncos forums and refused to discredit their takes as being any less valid than ours are here re our own players.

Ross had the right idea with Harbaugh but should have fired Tony first.. he bungled it and set up warning flares as the owner for any subsequent serious HC candidates. However, he was played by Harbaugh who had no intention of leaving his beloved Bay area, had a wife and children who were adamantly against it, and used our interest as financial leverage with SF.

Just so long as his idea of a "franchise QB" isn't Carson Palmer, or for that matter trading for a Sam Bradford, Kevin Kolb, Blaine Gabbert or Christian Ponder if any of their teams actually win the SFL Derby. (well, maybe Bradford, we'll see)

Regardless, give me Cowher an HC who's proved he can work with and bring the best out in new young QBs and everything else will fall into place eventually. Don't give me an Andy Reed who IMO needs a few seasons on the shelf to self-reflect and decompresss.

I'd take Bradford and Ponder. I highly doubt he sees any of those QBs as franchise QBs.

Yet another "name from the game has passed me by mentality". I am generally not in favor of CP doing anything but watching games in Ross's suite and commenting there. I look back at the mess he left the Chef's in, after a pretty good run and base my opinion on that. I have seen other comments from Phin Phan's with similar mind sets, although as a Jest fan,you might think that Peterson is a great idea.

I actually think Ross is doing the right thing by meddling with the football side of things. Like us fans, he realizes you need a franchise QB to compete in this league. Like us fans, he realizes you need a smart gameplanner coach to compete in this league. He's doing the right thing by not letting this failed regime mortgage our future for a hopeless season. Had Huizenga had half the ballz of Ross, we would never had traded for Feeley, Lamar Gordon, etc. You can't let a panicked & myopic front office (putting their careers over the team) trade away picks for mediocre talent like Orton. Good job Ross.

Because he inherited this regime, and what have any of them done to give Ross reason to believe anything different? Drop the "awh, why would Ross say we need a franchise QB, we still have Matt Moore" act. This team is ****ing trash.

Our owner is sucking for luck, the rest of you need to become realists. You don't look like a super fan for believing in this regime or rooting for wins instead of losses, you guys look ridiculous.

Lastly, you're 10000% wrong. Nowhere does it say this source is saying "what they believe". Remove the teal and orange shades, you look foolish.

Good article. It is funny that people say that Ross is not committed to winning. This article is great proof that he is indeed committed to winning and not the idiot/buffoon that some here think he is. I love what his preliminary plan appears to be, and I have said all along that he is likely to target one of the big three as head coach. Rumors seem to point to Gruden, but I hope he goes with Cowher.

As for the QB position, it is nice to see that Ross wants to finally end the question marks. What I think this means is that come April, Miami will be taking a 1st round QB. No more trades, no more free agent pickups, a "Franchise QB" means taking a chance on someone in the draft. Doesn't mean they will work out, but you have to hope they do. Whether it be Luck, Jones or Barkley and I think one of those guys will be in Miami in 2012.

Of course this is all preliminary because there is always the chance the 2011 team could run off a streak of wins and change the plans.
