Salguero: Ross will add franchise QB and superstar coach in 2012

Well Ross also said Henne would be better then Marino. Excuse me if I don't trust his idea of a franchise QB!

Bill Cowher is ours guys. Where else is he gonna go? Philly? We'll take Reid then. Dallas? Why would he want to work for an idiot like Jerry Jones? Jeff Fisher and Bob Stoops are fallback options for us.

I actually think Ross is doing the right thing by meddling with the football side of things. Like us fans, he realizes you need a franchise QB to compete in this league. Like us fans, he realizes you need a smart gameplanner coach to compete in this league. He's doing the right thing by not letting this failed regime mortgage our future for a hopeless season. Had Huizenga had half the ballz of Ross, we would never had traded for Feeley, Lamar Gordon, etc. You can't let a panicked & myopic front office (putting their careers over the team) trade away picks for mediocre talent like Orton. Good job Ross.

agreed

Good god that is nice to hear.

However, I don't like that he's so set on a big name head coach.. not always the right choice

If he does, I want Fisher. The old curse of a "super bowl winning coach, has never won a SB with a 2nd team" is in vogue here. Fisher went to a SB but lost it with Tennessee. So that curse wouldn't be invoked if he came LOL

But seriously, I want Cowher, but think we'll get Gruden. I'm hopeful he can get us to the playoffs, but not certain he gets us to the ultimate game for a win.

did you read the article? He wants to hire a football person to run the show. Whether it be a coach who puts his guys around him to run the show. Or a football guy to be president to run the show.

ROSS GETS IT!! I didn't think he did, if this article/source is TRUE, then Ross does get it!! No more on the job training. And QB is priority 1,2,3,4,and 5. Nothing else matters till you fix that position! ROSS GETS IT!!!

First order of business to me would be to get rid of Mike Dee and all his cronies he brought in from the Red Sox. CLEAN HOUSE !

Maybe he sees the franchise for which he spent all that money, on the verge of falling off the cliff. He knows now that he MUST give the fans what they want if the Dolphins are to survive in South Florida and now he is desperate. Dolphin fans should be proud that they were able to send a message to this regime in 2011. The message is; Don't shove garbage in front of us and expect us to keep accepting it, those days are over. There is no way the Dolphins will sell out any games next season unless they get a good Head Coach AND a Franchise QB. Not one or the other, BOTH.

Yeah those empty seats in pre-season and at the Houston game, I think drove the point home to Ross. Losing 16,000 season ticket holders in one off-season also drove that point home. He knows now, that the fan base is fed up, and they are mad as hell, and not going to take it anymore.

This article gave me a little bit of hope. I'd rather the team swing and miss on a franchise QB than give the keys to a guy like Orton. And yes, I'm well aware that there is a good chance we will miss. Gotta start taking our shots some time, though.

I think the reason why Mike Dee leaked this info to Armando was the fact that Barry Jackson wrote an article last week that mentioned Jeff Ireland as safe and Dee and Ross are trying to set the record straight. No one will be safe unless there is a miraculous turnaround led by journeyman backup Matt Moore.

This is a very accurate post. I think you nailed it.

However, I wish Mike Dee was on that "unsafe" list too.

what if that football person is Carl Peterson?

I got no problem with that. Peterson was known for being cheap, not dumb! OK. Big difference. He had KC as a legit contender for years and he was smart enough to know you need a QB to win which is why we went and got Montana!

Gruden signed an extension with ESPN beyond this year so he's out. Fisher or Cowher perhaps?

Until I see it prevents him from coaching, he is still a candidate.

Nothing will prevent him coaching...it actually gives him cover.

Someone on thephins.com says that Gruden won't be able to take a coaching job once the contract goes into effect, which isn't until next year. In other words, he has this offseason to decide whether he wants to coach again.

The details are unclear at this point but anyone who's drawing the conclusion that Gruden isn't going to coach for another five years is certainly jumping the gun. There is no confirmation on that point or any point.
