Salguero: The reason the Dolphins did nothing on Monday

I'll tell you guys, I think most of these posts are pretty funny. When someone here can prove they built a 4 Billion Dollar Empire I will take your opinion seriously on Ross. He is a smart man, maybe he still has some learning to do on the NFL front, but he's thinking about these decisions long and hard before he does something dumb and rash. At least he's an owner who does let his football people do their jobs and gives them the capital to do so, he will get this right. At least see what decisions he makes on this before we are calling him "clueless, moron, idiot etc"

Anyone here build a 4 Billion Dollar Empire?????? Speak up!

Ross is a dope, that much is clear.

Everyone says, oh he has money, he must be smart!!! Just because one is good at business and negotiations does not mean one is exceedingly intelligent.

I mean, ****, Congress is filled with millionaires with good business skills, but those are some of the dumbest people around when it comes to big picture thinking...

It really AMAZES me how many people let that cl0wn make up their opinions for them.

He will ALWAYS write a story to blame someone or make someone look bad.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with Ross's approach just like there wasn't really anything wrong with Ross pursuing Harbough before.

What made them wrong was that idi0t who works for the herald wrote a slime piece and all the people who can't think for themselves mindlessly agreed with what he wrote.

With all due respect Skape, I can't take you or any other poster here seriously when it comes to these decisions. These posts are laughable. Yes, it's a forum where we get to state our opinions, but I can't believe some of the stuff I'm reading. Pretty funny.
You are a smart man when you've done that well in business. Not too many pull one over on you. You want to say he's football dumb, ok I won't argue but at least lets see this play out before we crucify him. He may just surprise us all. You think he's happy about this??? He's losing money

Billionaires usually make their money on the backs of smarter people than themselves. They aren't the engineers, the great thinkers, etc., the billionaire owners are the ones who have a great skill in negotiations and exploitation. At a certain threshold, money begins to grow itself with the right investments. The billionaires usually rely on people smarter than themselves in order to tell them how to invest their money in ways that lead to the best returns.

A billionaire is a lot like a Queen Bee - they lounge around and get fat off the hard work of the worker bees and the rest of the hive because they are in a position of authority.

I don't think he is overly upset about this. He isn't Jerry Jones. The Dolphins aren't the source of his income, it's just a plaything, an investment that is nice to have in his portfolio. It's a status symbol.

In all honesty, the Dolphins are more of a headache to him these days than anything. For this reason, there is some hope he may just cut his losses and sell.

Does anyone know why Ross bought the Dolphins in the first place? I know he is a Michigan guy and I'm wondering what his ties to our team is?

I agree Ross is a smart man. As a smart man he should have had two plans in place. One for if we make the playoffs and one for if we didn't. And these plans should have been in place around game 10 of the season when we looked so tsrrible. Smart men have their bases covered. If we unrich posters can begin seeing the possibilities of a non playoff season before game 10 then our smart owner should have at least seen it himself and been prepared in case we did miss the playoffs.

So what you're saying is these billionaires are just dumb slugs laying in the street drinking and somehow latched on to some smarter people who decided to take em for a whirlwind ride to prosperity!??? Please stop dude. Of course they surround themselves with smart people, what smart executive doesn't? But they put themselves in place and take the risks to do so
I can't believe we are having this argument

He tried to buy the Jets first. But when that didn't work, he took the opportunity to buy the Dolphins. He claims it's because he spent his high school years down here in South Florida.

But he has really spent the majority of his life in NY. He has very few South Florida ties other than the Dolphins, a vacation home and some investment properties

Ok Matt, what makes you think he doesn't? Just because heads didn't roll immediately after the game and he's not expressing his thoughts to the general public does not mean he doesn't have different plans in place. As fans, we KNOW NOTHING right now, all speculation, I'm just saying let's see what he does before we kill him.

I'm pretty sure you dont have a clue what you are talking about here.

Of course they are more intelligent than the average Joe the plumber, but the main reason they are successful is not due to superior intelligence, it's either due to an immense skill to manage talented people or to exploit other people and resources. It's damn hard to make billions without crushing people beneath them and exploiting them for their own benefit.

And on top of all that, the ability to negotiate and "deal" is essential.

Superior intellect is not required. The smartest people in the world usually never become billionaires because they are driven to solve problems, not exploit people or loopholes. They are engineers, scientists, etc, not businessmen.

I thought there was a NY tie there, I just couldn't remember. So realistically, he has no reason to care what we as fans think ,as long as his investment is making a profit (albiet a little one). With that, I don't see how anything will change anytime soon.
Very depressing.
