San Diego ranks 32nd in passing defense

I can't believe I'm going to give backhanded props to Jay Cutler, but the rifle he calls an arm is a totally different animal from Pennington's. On the short routes and such, it gives him an edge. Even so, that was Cro's worst game as a pro and, frankly, a controversial loss at best all the same.

yeah, you guys got totally screwed, but ill say the same thing i always say, if you cant put a team away, the win is up for grabs.. Hoculi is still one of the best ref's in the game. Cutler does throw a nice ball and has am arm.

on another note, just watching the Al Davis PC, man, that dude looks like he should have died 25 years ago. He's going to haunt the NFL for another 25 years.

Without Mer-roid-man SD defense is totally different.

I really don't understand how San Diego is having so many problems in their secondary. With Jammer, Cromartie, 1st Rounder Cason, and Weddle -- it's surprising. You may want to say it's because of Merriman's absence, but I think Tucker has filled in well there.

I think we can beat them underneath and with crossing routes, mixing in the Wildcat.

Pennington was shreading the middle of the field BEFORE we even used the Wildcat formation. We only used that formation six times all game and Pennington was not the QB on any of them.

We started using the formation early, thus opening up more possibilities on offense, leading to opening up the middle of the field. We had the patriots on theier heels and they had no idea what to do.

In the early games, and in the first half against the raiders, we ran a four man rush most of the time and very vanilla blitzes. It gave Cutler and others all day long to find an open receiver. Secondaries, even great ones, cannot cover forever.

Now we are blitzing randomly and shifting pre-snap, which disguises the blitzes we do run and the results have been there. We also are finally getting healthy play from our front 3 and it showed with 6 sacks against Oak and allowing less than 100 yards on the ground to the #3 ranked rushing O coming into it.

I don't put too much stock in who is the top defense etc, this early into the season.
I think they have a good secondary and we better not go into the game thinking "Penny" is going to throw for 400 yards against them. Maybe 378 or 390 tops:beer1:

Hey one can dream and hope can't they?
We take the ball from goal to goal,
Like no one's ever seen!
We're in the air,
We're on the ground,
We're always in control.
So when you say Miami,
You're talking flushing San Diego down the toilet bowl

The first time we used the play was after we had already drove 74 to the Patriots 2 yard line. We didn't even use the Wildcat on the next scoring possession.
The Patriots was getting beat at the line of scrimmage from the second series on. The performance of the OL is what open up the possibilites, not the Wildcat formation. You cannot gain over 350 yards from your base formations if the OL is not getting it done.

I like your rhyme and you've sure got style
But a Miami win this Sunday? You're wrong by a mile
The Bolts are coming in to clobber the Fins
When it's done we'll be savoring 3 wins
We'll beat you in ways that are so not pretty
Ugly but effective, just like this here ditty
I'll be there to see the bloodbath firsthand
As my Bolts work upward to be best in the land
Pennington knows he's in for a wicked beating
just another victim of Charger de-cleating
when it's over we can still be friends
While your QB is in the locker room changing Depends.

Pennington did make some plays on the second drive, hitting ginn and fasano for decent gains. I can't discredit the O-line, our first score was out of the wildcat formation. Pennington managed the game well, we saw his dink and dunk stuff, but ultimately we had them guessing. Can't take away from anything you said, maybe its just my bias against the guy hell I don't know, maybe we can do the same against the Chargers. Heres to our team putting up another W in Miami. :hi5::beer1:

I really hope we dont use the wildcat formation this game unless its in goaline situations. You know SD is definately preparing for that formation. Hopefully we can see a big game out of Ginn because of the supposible "weak" pass defense. But truely, we need Ronnie and Ricky to get the neccessary touches in the beginning of the game to keep the possession/tempo.

Hey I would like to say thanks for your comments and your "you must be drunk" statement on how the Chargers will win this Sunday. As our favorite pet detective once said "Fantasy can be fun" Do you play dungeons and dragons as well?

Miami will dominate!

Pennington's game opened up against the pats only due to the effectiveness of the Wildcat formation IMO.

We started using the formation early, thus opening up more possibilities on offense, leading to opening up the middle of the field. We had the patriots on theier heels and they had no idea what to do.

gOD you people know nothing of football.

WE were driving down field at will all game. The wildcat was 6 plays out of 50+ we ran. How is that opening up anything? We were in scoreing position and would have gotten in with or without the wildcat on everytime. The only one that did anything SOLO was the long run by ronnie. 4 of the wildcats were run in the redzone.. on first down... only the scamper by ricky and the long run by ronnie were outside the 20.

Wildcat did not have that much of an impact on the game besides flash. We were already going into the endzone with almost no problem. Pennington was just desecting the field. Our running game also didnt get opened up tillafter pennington was going.
Pennington managed the game well, we saw his dink and dunk stuff,

Pennington wasnt dinking and dunking.

It is your biasd opinion and only reinforces the fact I and others who know football are right.

Watch the game. Learn the game. Don't speak. enjoy.

I bet Denver fans are glad the Broncos didn't feel this way when Brandon Marshall was catching most of 18 receptions on Cromartie.

dude, you think the cutler-marshall connection is comparable to a pennington-ginn or a pennington-camarillo connection ? you are out of your mind

It will be interesting to say the least. I hate to say it, but I think Cromartie will snag one of Pennington's passes. I'm anxious to see how our O-line performs though, because they are starting to gel.

Look for the Dolphins to use misdirection and game planning to make quick strikes if you guys blitz too much. It will be interesting to see how you handle the wildcat; the Chargers have had a week to look at the film.

But we've had two weeks to watch you guys!

Hey, I live in San Diego -- where you at? I live up by UTC but bout to move to Cardiff.

They don't have to be comparable, they just have to be smart about the way they attack Cromartie and San Diego's defense. While Cromartie shows big play abilities, he has also shown he can be beat due to being over aggressive.
