Say no to Brian Gaine

So..... about Gaine...

Do people really expect things to be better?

Not sure sitting here and now it won't be any worse or better with or without Gaines as the GM.

It's not like any of these candidates are proven winners.

I prefer Farmer, mainly because he's someone from the outside. I think bringing in someone from outside is probably what this franchise needs over keeping someone from within. However depending on where Gaines stood on JI's decisions I wouldn't be upset if he was the GM.

If Gaine can prove his evaluations were better than Ireland's, what does it say about the organization that they didn't fire Ireland and promote Gaine sooner? That's why I tend to believe that Ireland's evaluations were similar to Gaine's evaluations. It's much more logical to make that assumption.

I've always had a theory that Ireland was more heavily invested in the higher round picks and depended on Gaine/the scouting department more for the lower round picks and undrafted guys. For example the first 3 rounds like 95% Ireland, 4th and 5th round maybe 60% Ireland - 40% Gaine and 6th and 7th round like 20% Ireland - 80% Gaine. I have nothing to back it up and I don't even know if it says anything good about Gaine if true but I think it would make sense logistically (though maybe the percentages are off).

I do know gaine did a lot of the scouting in season ie he found thomas the week of the int and he can lay claim to wake.... parcells brought him in amongst many other teams offers but gaine "found him" long before any other team caught the scent.

If indeed Farmer, Gaine, and Hickey are finalists. It's clear that Brian Gaine is BY FAR the best hire. Would rather have Xanders (or have had Licht), but Gaine would be the clear cut best choice amongst the aforementioned finalists.

Good one. Gaine is the absolute worst of the three for one obvious reason of which what we all know is

Prove it. What good talent has he evaluated other than Wake?

...that makes yourself seem extremely hypocritical. Since you seem to think Gaine somehow had a hand in every bad thing to happen...prove it.

You know what they say about assuming don't you?

He will get hired if nobody else accepts the job. On the bright side, if he gets hired and we fail next year, hopefully we'll clean house completely. But we lose another year of our lives.

r o

Reasons Brian Gaine should not get the job.

1. He was Ireland's right hand man.
2. He has a poor track record of evaluating talent at most positions except for DE.
3. He won't bring fresh ideas from another culture/organization
4. He wasn't a former player and won't get the same type of respect from players.
5. He seems to be a yes man/organizational puppet.

Go ahead. Flame away.....

I will. You are generally wrong on the Ireland stuff. He was brought in by Bill. He is very well respected in the league and interviewed for jobs in the league last year. He does not view personnel the way Ireland did based on a number of media reports. Your rant while strong is uninformed.

I think it would say JI made the wrong decisions and the owner still had some trust left in him for JI, nothing more, IMO.

I don't believe it is more logical to assume Gaines was in lock step with JI. I'm not going to say it isn't true either. However it could be just as logical to assume that only the Dolphins franchise knows exactly where Gaines stood with JI's decisions. As much as I think Ross has made mistakes, in the past, I cannot see someone so successful as he is that he would continue to keep someone like Gaines in the franchise after JI was just fired if Gaines agreed with most of JI's decisions. Again I could be wrong, but I just have a hard time seeing that.

A very interesting thought.

Im not going to lie and say I know anything about most of these gm candidates. I am a NFL fan, but I really dont follow NFL front offices all too much.

What I do know is I dont like the idea of hiring the 2nd in command of the guy we fired for sucking the previous 5 years. Seems counter productive.

Thats an awful lot of assumptions

not any more than "gaine is respected all around the league".

all that is sports hack talk. gaine being the chief scout and procured the above mentioned players is FACT, not internet rumour.

step it up UK!! :)
