Schefter: Dolphins harassment stretches all the way up to management

My question is why is Schefter releasing his information in segments? I heard an interview he did either Sunday night or really early Monday morning saying that he heard the voice mails and read the texts and that they will be damning once they come out. Then he finally releases the context of those tapes. Why not release them when you know them and instead tease and drag it out? He keeps hinting that he knows the full story, why not give the public the full story now?

I know exactly why he won't.

Liability concerns, protecting his sources, and taking the time to double check the information gained from said sources.

I have it on good authority the 3rd reason is of the utmost importance. Because if he gets it wrong even once, people might hold on to it for...oh, i dont know, months afterwards. Like, for example, he doesnt get all the details right in a concert fight, people would use that against him for a long time in an ill-fated effort to discredit him.

Admitted he cant always get it right. Then again, we invaded Iraq under false intelligence reports(and blatant lies), so there have been worse screw ups. I applaud Schefter for trying to learn from his "mistakes" and taking his time with this. Id personally like for this to be resolved before our next game(fat chance) but i would rather have this revealed right then rushed out incorrectly.

With all of this going on. Has someone thought about putting Ross under suicide watch?

Steve Ross isn't the type to do that. Steve Ross is the type to say '**** it' and launch all warheads. That's why that Dolphins source told Dave Hyde this could get 'really toxic.' They got some big dirt on Martin that Richie Sr. talked about and if they get pushed hard enough, they are going to push the red button.

Or worse, start a Super PAC.

Good. I hope it all comes out.

Both idiots should be exposed, not just the one viewed to be a racist.

Isn't Martin's mother a lawyer in the employ of Toyota? You know Ross is going to look to do some damage there. And really, I got nothing against that. This is hardball and all sides involved know it.

I meant it sarcastically. And as of now I hope Ross does blow the entire thing up. Clean house from the CEO to the waterboy.

If I have to explain to you the difference between a troubled young man going to his parents for advice and help and a fifty-something year old going on a message board and writing ****** this and ****** that and throwing everyone on the team under the bus because of his son's EXTREMELY sophomoric behavior, then you're not even worth talking to.

I have been disappointed in Martin's play and was never a big fan. Having said that, people shouldn't have to take this kind of harassment, no matter what field they are in.

So I guess you advocate the way Martin handled the situation. Met wit philbin numerous occasions after the voicemail and texts and NEVER mentions it. Then runs with tail between his legs to momma to hide behind because he is scared of big bad Richie. Martin should have more respect for the organization and notified someone internally.

I am not defending Cog. I am pointing out that Martin handled the situation in the worst possible way. Go to the coach...don't cry to Momma

It needs to be reiterated that I do not believe the OP interpreted Schefter's report correctly. I've watched it twice now and he sort of fumbles his words at a key moment, but seen in the context of the 78 other reports he's made on the subject, it was pretty clear that the reports are that Incognito also harassed members of management (which is not really ground breaking, since iirc it's already been reported that Incog was fined by the team for doing exactly that), not that management also contributed to Martin's troubles.

There is a world of difference between those two things.

In all my years of following the team I never thought I'd see such goofy and embarrassing stuff coming out about the Dolphins. They are a nationwide if not worldwide laughingstock right now. Ross and Ireland must be proud of this monster they've created.

I never wrote that management contributed to Martin's harassment, to me it seemed like Schefter said that there is a culture of harassment in the organization.

Well damn then, the title of this thread needs to be re worded, because it looks like it means Dolphins management was harassing everyone in the building.

PS. I still think Schefter is a tool. ;)

Whose to say they didn't try? Whose to say Philbin didn't talk to Martin? Maybe Martin said it was personal reasons and clammed up.

It's this mindless speculation that's used to create a false agenda that pisses me off.

"To excuse Philbin and his staff..."

Whose excusing, we don't even know what happened!

Speculation leads to nothing but imagination. Let the NFL conduct it's review.

You really have no idea about effective leadership and how it works.

The way Martin handled this situation leads me to believe he realized he's not NFL material and wants out with a big pay day. If he wanted to continue with his NFL career he would of brought this out long ago. just my opinion.
