My question is why is Schefter releasing his information in segments? I heard an interview he did either Sunday night or really early Monday morning saying that he heard the voice mails and read the texts and that they will be damning once they come out. Then he finally releases the context of those tapes. Why not release them when you know them and instead tease and drag it out? He keeps hinting that he knows the full story, why not give the public the full story now?
I know exactly why he won't.
Liability concerns, protecting his sources, and taking the time to double check the information gained from said sources.
I have it on good authority the 3rd reason is of the utmost importance. Because if he gets it wrong even once, people might hold on to it for...oh, i dont know, months afterwards. Like, for example, he doesnt get all the details right in a concert fight, people would use that against him for a long time in an ill-fated effort to discredit him.
Admitted he cant always get it right. Then again, we invaded Iraq under false intelligence reports(and blatant lies), so there have been worse screw ups. I applaud Schefter for trying to learn from his "mistakes" and taking his time with this. Id personally like for this to be resolved before our next game(fat chance) but i would rather have this revealed right then rushed out incorrectly.
