Schefter: Fins zeroing in on Kubiak, Shanhan, or McAdoo for OC

i tell ya what all this tells me too...the last person they are blaming is the qb for all our issues...

I need a proven guy in here right now. And of the 2, Kubiak would be it for me.

If we Kubiak that means he is calling the plays. If we get McAdoo that means Philbin will have more say in the playcalling. Which would be better? IMO if Philbin wants to win next year and keep his job he will hire Kubiak because Kubiak gives us a greater chance to win.

Philbin doesn't really have much experience calling plays. He didn't call them in GB and not sure if he called any here. Also I dont really want my HC calling plays unless he's Sean Payton or the equivalent.

Yes good point. I think they're all on the same page that Tannehill is the guy. They will give him at least another season or two behind a decent line…and I think he at least deserves that much.

Hiring Kubiak means 2 things.

1. He will eventually bolt in 2-3 years if successful at O-coordinator for a HC position.
2. He could be the next HC if Philbin is fired.

Thing with Shannahan is that he never really got to use his entire playbook...that team was always playing from behind this year. He looked like a genius last year when they won the division. I think if the defense doesn't give up 30 points per game, Shannahan could be a good OC.

Please pick Gary. I want a strong running game and take advantage with play action

Yes, but it's been leaked and is now widely assumed that the decision to trade up was all Dan Snyder's decision and that Mike Shanahan actually would have rather stayed put and drafted Tannehill. I think the Shanahan's may have been trying to get whatever they could out of Bob because they knew he wouldn't last in the NFL. Perhaps, if Shanahan was given a QB with a much better skill set than Bob, such as Tannehill, his play calling would change as well.

What I am wondering, if you know because I don't. Is what kind of offensive philosophy did Kyle have before having Bob forced on him?

FYI, I don't disagree with you are saying at all, just playing devil's advocate. It's nice to finally talk about football again.

hey i hear you...you may be right...maybe it was he had no other option...thus all the run to contact...but what if you are wrong and we are getting our qb hit as a ball carrier til the cows come home and next thing you know we've ruined the guy

i'd rather just not take the chance...maybe he is a genius in the making but i can't get some of those calls and gameplans out of my head in washington

Shanny would be good too in terms of the running game. I have no idea with mcadoo

the shanny thing sounds good in the running game but just about all of it with washington was read option and pistol...so it may not be as good here...although any dope with a brain would learn to help the inside run game you must run pa off the zone read against the stay at home de on vertical in cutters over the lbs and in front of the safeties to get those lbs to stop filling gaps at the los vs the inside run game from the snap pretty much...

well any dope but mike sherman evidently

Why would Philbin bother with thinking about what may come after him in Miami? If he thinks Kubiak is the best he will hire Kubiak. Reason being is that there are two possible outcomes:
1) the season is going to be a success or
2) the season is NOT going to be a success.

If (1) happens, no one will want to replace Philbin. If (2) happens, Philbin will be replaced and in this case he could care less who it's going to be. If Philbin is a smart man, which I believe he is, he will hire the man that will help him make (1) happening.

philbins a big believer in familarity and trust...you can see that by who plays and how much they play on sundays during the regular season...i think it's the same with who he has as his direct report staff...

just my take off what i have seen the last 2 years personnel wise especially

I'm not so sure Kubiak will get another HC gig... He seems like a Norv Turner to me. Great OC, mediocre HC

If we are somehow lucky enough to land Gary Kubiak as our new OC I will do cartwheels. And then send Mike Sherman a thank-you note for convincing his friend Gary to take the job.

Kubiak is absolutely phenomenal. You will see a totally different Ryan Tannehill, in terms of production, under his offense.

I'll do cartwheels. CARTWHEELS.

Which is probably exactly how it would have to happen.

I'd be fine with Kubiak, tentative but sort of hopeful on McAdoo, I suppose, and have a violent ****/vomit attack if it's Shanahan.
