Schefter: Ross wants Philbin, Ireland wants McCoy

It might be Ross's team, However, if you put your faith in Jeff ireland, and we have no reason to think that he hasn't, then you let jeff pick his coach and go from there.

Agree 100%. I wanted Zimmer, and of the 3 remaining candidates, I am hoping for Philbin (If he is emotionally right), but you have to allow your football people to make the decisions, if not your just another Al Davis/Jerry Jones, and little will get done each year.

Putting your faith in Jeff Ireland rebuilding the Miami Dolphins to a Super Bowl caliber team is like having faith in your hamster helping you with your calculus final.

Owners...good and bad are typically involved in the hiring and firing of coaches. Who do you think hires the GM? You think owners call another teams GM to ask who they should hire as their GM? The best owners stay out of the way of personnel decisions for the most part: ie: FA and drafting. Nothing wrong with an owner, especially an owner who shouldnt trust Ireland 100% and has already had to veto one stupid trade to be involved in the hiring of the next coach.

Yeah, I do think they lean on others in the league and out for advice.

I glad Ross has one fan that trust's his judgement.

Ross said he was going to stay out of the football side of things............then he's flying around trying to replace the head coach, then we find out last summer that he wouldn't sign players Tony or Jeff wanted....Lol it's never ending.

It's one thing to be a clown but being a two faced clown is why the top coaches don't want to be here.

And to the people who say " He's the owner he can do whatever he wants " that's true, but he shouldn't say one thing then do the other........I mean that's the whole reason why he's a clown.

Ross isn't like Jerry Jones.... he's Jerry Jones on laughing gas who just drunk three 40's and smoked 3 bowls.

this is insane.....take it easy people....is not worth going crazy over it....we'll have our HC in place by friday

Ozzy rules!!

Has nothing to do with Ross and everything to do with people flipping out over someone's OPINION. Nothing to do with Ross and everything to do with media bull****. How many false reports do you have to read before you stop believing everything you read? Especially when the guy giving his opinion says it himself. It's pure speculation man. No facts to it. I tell you what man, you send me $1000 and I promise you I will send you back $2000.You can ask my sources or ask around the league if you want, I'm good for the money. PM me to exchange addresses.

Jerry Jones is involved in drafting and signing free agents, Ross isnt. Except for veto Orton trade, which is a damn good thing btw. The two are NOTHING alike, aside from being billionaires. All owners are involved in hiring coaches, at least the over whelming majority are. Ross has made many mistakes but some of you are so quick to jump on him for no ****ing reason. The reason coaches dont want to come here (Harbaugh and Fisher) is because of Ireland, not Ross. Some of you act like Ross is the idiot holding back the genius Ireland. The same Ireland who hasnt drafted an impact play-maker since he came here.

schefter's full o' shiz. he played this same hand during the 2-week Fisher decision (might come/might not). he'll be working on a tabloid news show before long (or maybe not).

Apparently, none of you have ever been in a corporate conference room before. Disagreements on direction are commonplace and are often very productive.
And it is to be behind closed doors. when the doors open it should be a unified front. You must know that too.

This just in and BREAKING NEWS

Ross will take on Ireland in a mudwrestle event and the Winner will choose the new Head Coach!!!

Ross better pick Philbin. My gut tells me McCoy will fail. For me it was Philbin or Zimmer. I don't even care we didn't get Fisher.

This whole report is just speculation. He doesn't even claim it as fact, stating "There are people around the league who believe Ross would prefer Joe Philbin, there are people who believe Ireland would prefer Mike McCoy."

At no time does he even say anyone is telling him this as fact. He doesn't even claim any sources "familiar with their thinking" (my personal favorite) or within the organization are telling him this, just that some people around the league basically "think" they "might" like so and so. This is not breaking news.

McCoy has not even met with Ross yet. Either the report is wrong or Ross has already made up his mind.

If Ross had already decided he wanted Philbin, Philbin would already be named the coach. Its his team; its not like Ireland is his co-owner
