I'd rather act as if I've never read this...I would just like to interject here. I keep seeing coaches put their best tackle at lt. Does this count when the lt on james's team was dallas thomas and we drafted him a year earlier?

Kinda strange that of the first round OT's from last year, Justin Pugh from the Giants played the best in his first year. He was considered a reach and was picked at #19. Ya just never know. We can only hope to have the same success with James.
He was actually moved to guard his senior year

So we should just take reaches since u never know. Also I ask you would you take Pugh over any other tackle in last year's draft
No, and No Way. Just found it interesting.
Still was a higher rated prospect in most eyes than Jawan James . I never thought he would be a bust and on the field I don't think he was a total bust but between the ears quite so.
He was adequate as a rookie at RT, based on a rookie learning curve. He was not good at LT but neither was his replacement last year.
James I think is a decent prospect jusr drafted about 30 picks or more too high. I see him as a potential left tackle at some point. Not sure he will be a stud anywhere on line but should be at the least a swing tackle long term.
I dont agree. This past draft class was much better and deeper at the tackle position. Martin also played LT in college and the LT prospects are generally higher regarded than the RT prospects. For all we know, James would have been graded as a 1st rd talent in the 2012 draft.
James is much better prospect as a RT than Martin and that is what he was drafted for. Additionally, James played against a higher level of competion than Martin and was a 4 yr starter.
Bottom line. For the position he was drafted for (RT), James is a much better prospect than Martin ever was.
There is a reason that LT prospects are more highly regarded than RT prospects because generally the superior tackle plays LT plain and simple. Not sure how James would have been graded as 1st round talent in 2012. Martin also started every year in college but since he came out early was not a 4 year starter.
He was also 2 time all American first team so while the level of competition was not as good he was considered a superior player by far to James in college. at one point Martin was looked at as a possible top 10 pick. Most people had James at best as a late first round pick.
Martin was considered very NFL ready. James is a solid prospect but he had no business being drafted in the first round
Martin got pushed around a lot as a rookie, as many thought he would but, did show talent in only giving up 6 sacks, and got stronger in the off season. Then everything turned into disaster. I thought he had more talent when drafted than I do of James.

Read my last sentence again.
I not so sure that he is any better bet because he played RT in college. Most teams in college put their best tackle on the left side Im pretty damn sure Jake Matthews would be a top level RT propect and just as ready as James to play week 1 at that position.
Well Jake Mathews did play RT at Texas A&M the 3 years Luke Joekhel was there.
Who cares about martin and where he was projected? He's **** himself totally. Who cares about where James wad projected? Reality is, we drafted him at 19. Consensus is, we reached. Ok fine. If he busts it wont matter where he was drafted. If he solidifies the RT spot, it still wont matter. Players bust all the time. Lets wait till the end of the season to say which way it looks like he went.
