Serious question for the anti-Tannehill crowd

Fact is, if the defense stops that LOOOOOONG 4th down play, the game was over. Period.

Agreed. That is an absolute fact. Wallace connecting with Tannehill would've helped obviously but the 4th down play Carolina got a first down on would've ended the game had the defense lived up to their "scoring average against".

Yes and we scored a whopping 16 points in that game, I remember. Again if we came closer to the league average of 23 we win.

Carolina scored 20 and got the win. While Miami certainly needs to score more than they do to win let's not act like the Panthers did much more. A win is a win.

Very simple.

What does he have to do to get you to believe in him?

Playoffs? QB rating? Yards? TDs?

What will it take to get you to admit he is a good QB?

Or are you holding him to a SB win?

Cause Dan never won one. And he was pretty decent.

I'm not in anti-Tannehill crowd....but, I want to see him with a decent O-line, decent pass protect and decent receivers....all in the same season....before the rush to judgement crowd runs him out of town.

Some of these so called fans and trolls would have given up on Drew Brees and many others too soon as well.

Keep repping Pasco bro!

It all hinges on the OL this year. The specialists should be good enough.

Oh please. That's far too over-simplified. You really believe that if they privately thought Tannehill was an issue or was struggling they would look to replace him? Do you know how large of a white flag that would wave to the fans who are barely hanging on as it is?

There is no way in hell they would admit their mistake if they internally thought Tannehill "might" not be the guy. Regardless of what how they perceive him, at this stage they're all in and the only thing they could do is attempt to better the team and coaching staff around him in hopes he puts it all together.

Lol why do fans think there are conspiracies in the NFL? Again, this isn't the United States government. You have a bass ackwards view of how things work. Just because YOU think RT isn't the real deal, doesn't mean the people that matter do.

And coaches/GMs don't make money trying to appease fans. They make money by winning! And trying to 'hide your mistakes' is going to do nothing but guarantee a short career in the NFL.

Playoffs. Just get there, and then we can have a conversation. Win a couple games that we have no business winning, to put the team in the playoffs.

BTW, they brought in a new GM and new OC. Perfect time to change the QB if that is the problem. First round draft pick contracts are no longer the huge burden that they used to be. It would easy to move on if they wanted to, but it is obvious to any unbiased observer that Tannehill has not been put in a position to realize his full potential yet. And, he actually did remarkably well under the circumstances. Almost, every article talking about Tannehill's potential flatly states that the OL was terrible and he needs to be protected better. I shake my head every time I read one of the haters' comments disregarding reality in an effort to prop up the fantasy that they have created.

"Fans"? Definitely not.

A couple thoughts:

1) There are those who simply will NOT change their opinion.

Do I have unshakable faith in Tannehill? No. But there have been enough signs, enough plays, and signs of his potential blossoming that we optimists are going to say "We're not moving on from Tannehill yet."
Likewise, there are those who simply will not be swayed by signs, plays, and potential. They're going to say, "I hate Tannehill," because they want results. Now.

2) This is a pivotal year for Tannehill.

Duh.

That aside, I understand the frustration of the "results now" crowd. The "results now" crowd doesn't want to hear that the Dolphins drafted a developmental QB with a completely unprecedented path as a first-round potential franchise QB. Here's the problem: The Dolphins drafted a developmental QB with a completely unprecedented path as a first-round potential franchise QB. It's not Tannehill's fault for being who and what he is, but his inexperience is costing the team.

This year, it looks as though he's being put in a great position to succeed. He's had two years to adjust to being a QB at the NFL level, and there needs to be more results on offense, better decision making, and hopefully...more wins. He need to take a step forward in leading this offense, or next year's 1st round pick should be a QB.

Note the "hopefully": If anyone wants to start a "The QB needs to win, no matter what," argument, feel free to start a separate thread, and we'll go round and round all you want. Because the QB does not play defense. And this year's defense scares the crap out of me. I saw enough games during the Marino era that were lost 45-38. I don't need any more of those.

3) This has very little to do with on-field performance, but good God is Tannehill easy to root for. I don't think I've wanted an individual player to succeed more than Tanny since Yatil Green coming of his first knee injury. I'm hoping this one turns out better. He's a great teammate, does and says all the right things, and seems to be universally liked and respected. Regarding his leadership, it's difficult to tell...because there isn't just one type of leadership. Not every leader gets in your face and screams. Those seeking that from Tanny are going to be severely disappointed, I think.

Nobody should pass judgement until he plays behind a line that can block for him, our line would have made Brady and Manning look bad because most of his sacks were on two step drops which also takes your biggest threat in Walllace completely out because his strength is going deep. You can't do that or even develop any kind of chemistry when your on your ass in two seconds combined with no running game and one of the worst Off Coord ever in Sherman (I think if he had better play calling we make playoffs easy). Yet Thill still managed to throw for 24 tds beat some good Qbs and should have made the playoffs. **** THills first year he should of made playoffs if it wasn't for dan carpenter missing 2-3 game winning fgs when Thill drove him down and put him in position every time.

Nobody ever talks about all those factors they just hate. Dudes gonna be a beast mark my words!!

I might be in the minority here, but I really appreciate your honesty. I think I've been around enough football boards to know that some people just don't like a player and won't ever think he's any good.

You're brave enough to be candid about it, which is refreshing.

thats not refreshing, thats just being an absurd blowhard. nothing personal. purely based on what was said, not the persons character, which I know nothing about.

I completely disagree. Inexperience didnt hinder him from relative rookie success playing with guys like Legadu Naanee. His "inexperience" didnt hinder him, the crappy OL play and Sherman downgraded his developement. Clearly Lazor is getting him on track with fundamentals of release and decision making based on the use of a full deck of cards. That said, he has no more excuses, but so far, its looking real good.

He's got to have a win at all cost kind of attitude. Be a leader, if something isn't working have some balls to do something about it. you have to have the confidence in yourself to lead and get guys to believe in you and play for you. he seems to willing to just sit back and let games slip away and just follow directions from the bench. you're the one out there, you know what you can do and what your teammates can do. make guys follow you into that fire and get a result. This is what Marino was so good at. The guy was a general out there and its how he pulled out so many games, sometimes with an inferior team.

and I will agree with what Peter King said the other day about the Miami Dolphins as a whole.

"When you think about this team and where its headed, you have to think long term."

In all honesty, I dont think Philbin and Tannehill are going anywhere but up.

He is willing to sit back and let games slip away? really now, while on his back a record 58 times. lol

I've been saying that for forever. If Tannehill is able to step up even a little bit we're about to be treated to things that we haven't seen in maybe forever. Even if we don't have the trophies to show for it I guarantee it'll be a wild exciting ride at the very least.
