Sharpe: "Dolphins' Problems on Offense Can be Laid at Tannehill's Feet"

And you really think he believes, as a former NFL player, that every sack Tannehill has taken is his fault.

You're just reaching for whatever you can get your mitts on to discredit the entire point, "reaching" being the key word. :)

Sterling or Shannon (I DON'T CARE) these guys are PAID to say things ACCURATELY - IF WE NEED YOU TO EXPLAIN HIS WORDS we have a PROBLEM - eh, rocket scientist?

Maybe he needs to watch his words -cause he put ALL the blame at the foot of RT... The last time I looked we traded for a Lt NOT A qB what does that tell you?

Shannon is a major homer, I dont respect his opinion at all. but this is sterling sharpe. I have no opinion about him other then I disagree on this issue. tannehill gets rid of the ball quicker then any other qb, his rating is still higher then average dispite him not being able to let plays develop.

In regards to improvement just a couple numbers...last year 57 percent completion 12 tds in 16 games this year thru 6 games 61 percent 9 tds on pace for around 22 tds thru 16 games...already has a 3 td performance under his belt didn't do that last year even once...

Yes the int pace is higher in the 18 range vs 13 last year and yes the fumble pace is up...still overall you are seeing improvement from the qb...not mind blowing rate improvement but improvement none the less...

And if you think this front office is gonna give up on this qb after 2 years with what he's shown to date your way off the mark...if you want a change you better hope for a complete staff redo...good luck with that...

Well I don't think you can make an argument that Tannehill is the best player on the team when he's playing average at his position by objective standards, and there are other players who are playing above average at their positions.

I don't think you can make that argument because Fields could be the best punter in the history of the NFL but he's still not going to be selected above many QBs.

I don't care if it is Aikman or Marino if we have to interpret something so obvious as this, the QB trolls will spin they are out for blood anyways..., because we didn't Suck for Luck

His QB rating is not higher than average.

His QB rating is not higher than average.

This is true but he's not far off. The average of all QBs this year with more than 50 attempts is 84.8 and Tannehill is at 83.1. Take out Peyton Manning and the average is 83.7 so Ryan is very, very close to average in QB rating. Not that it's anything to brag about, but he's higher than Brady, Eli, Palmer, Schaub, Flacco, Smith and only a few tenths behind RGIII. Considering his protection and lack of running game that's not too bad.

ok well hes average and better then last year in passer rating. all you can ask is for improvement

On two measures strongly correlated with winning, Ryan Tannehill is performing worse this year than he did last year:

Net YPA
2012: 5.90 (25th in the league)
2013: 5.75 (25th in the league)

Adjusted Net YPA
2012: 5.23 (26th in the league)
2013: 5.20 (23rd in the league)

Not what you'd expect from someone who's "improving" IMO.

Here's some more about adjusted net YPA:

Additionally, Tannehill's DVOA and its league ranking are both worse this year than last:

quick, everybody find two stats that support your agenda, than go on finheaven and post them as gospel.

If you can't see this qb is improving there really is no hope for you. YOu can literally SEE the transformation with your eyes. **** stats, you can twist and find any stat you want to support each side to an argument.

some of you could sit and watch bread get moldy and more moldy from each passing day, but would eat it anyway, unless you had stats to PROVE it was in fact moldy.

I'll take objective data that converges with the opinions of experts (i.e., Gruden and Sharpe) over the "vision" of a bunch of nobodies on a message board anyday. :)

Tannehill's obvious problem has been his feet in the pocket, he doesn't know when to step-up or side-step but when he does he is effective.. Andrew Luck is a beast at this and Dan Marino was the best at it ever. Tanny just needs pretty feet to navigate in the pocket, Tony Romo is the best in the NFL right now at this particular skill... Besided that Not worried about his arm or reads ability, Tanny is our Franchise Q, period.

One small problem... One does not learn pocket presence.

You wake up out of bed with it.
