Sherman Costs ‘Fins Another Victory, Possibly Playoffs

This isn't about one game. It is about the worst offensive line in football throughout the season. It's about letting your pro bowl LT walk without a solution. Tannehill and Sherman have us pushing for the playoffs with the worst line in the game... Give me a break. This is about Jeff Ireland failing to protect his developing, 2nd year qb, period.

Then why do we even need Sherman? Just get a robot to spit out the same generic plays and let the players do the rest. The problem is that the team has shortcomings on many points in the offense, but there is very little effort from the play calling side of things to mask that. Does it make sense to keep putting Thomas/Miller in situations where they have to pickup a blocker when 99% of the time they just get run over? Your line can't hold the opponent for more than 3 secs, so you make no effort to call plays that develop in 1 or 2 secs? Does Wallace really have to run the same 2 or 3 routes the entire game?
We already have the robot. His name is Mike Sherman.

They should have certainly kept running the ball.

Meh...we had 14 yards on 12 rushes. We continue to run Daniel Thomas outside when he doesn't have the speed and running up the middle was pointless cause Pouncey was getting owned by Marcell Dareus. Their D-line just owned the day and their O-line dominated our D-line. They won the battle at the LOS.

And Daniel Thomas getting run over twice by Nickell Robey who's all of 5'7" and 165 lbs is embarrassing.

So another OC will call plays and the those same RB will be able to pick up the blitz? Not going to happen, if the line can't hold a block the defense will adjust and start sitting on those quick routes your talking about and get a few pick 6.....if your team can not execute there is nothing a OC can do with play calling.....and I disagree that his offense is predictable. he just beat a defensive genius in belicheat last week....If you want to blame Philbin for not having his team ready to play that's fine, but don't blame the OC for not abandoning his game plan after the first half.....this team has yet to put together a full game and I think the problem is with the players and the execution......

Look at the teams we lost to, five of them are top ten in defense DVOA, the Panthers, the Bills x2, Tampa Bay and Baltimore, and the Saints is just outside at 11. The only team we beat with a top defense was the Bengals and it took OT to do it with Dalton playing like total garbage and they lost their best defensive player during the game, and we had to rely on our defense to get our points for us..

Clearly our offense doesn't match up well against top defenses. Another thing that stands out is we've been completely shut out for several halves vs the above teams.

Charles clay screwed up the play. He was supposed to slide over to Robey and it screwed up Everything when he didn't.

Someone gets it.

But, everyone loves to blame Sherman. They send the man into a gun fight with a knife and get pissed at him when he dosent slice and dice the opposition like he is Ray Lewis.

What is bad is that when we actually have the matchup and Sherman makes brilliant calls to take advantage, the same people never give him any credit when he makes masterful calls.

Play calling is so overrated anyway. People play way too much madden.

But you don't get it! He was blaming the offense and by in large part Sherman. He definitely wasn't agreeing with your tunnel visioned pov. Very few if any do.

Sherman runs the same offense week after week.it hasn't changed all year with the exception of 1 or 2 plays. When every single thing is going well (blocking, running game, receivers catching, presnap reads) it looks pretty good. However if even one of those things is off it looks like complete dog ****! Most coaches make adjustments or changes to correct or at least compensate. Sherman however, is incapable of such. He'll just keep running the same plays over and over like wanny used to with the defense. Nothing innovative to confuse the defense. No taking advanced of weaknesses or minimizing strengths. The guy is a complete dinosaur and needs to go.

Ask the Eagles how overrated play design and play calling are.

This is truth.

However, it's tough for me to look at that game and think that Sherman did anything to help his guys out. Yes, players were screwing up blocking assignments (Daniel Thomas, hello!). Yes, execution on the field needs to be better. Yes, he is working with a JV offensive line.

But I think he could have protected those guys from themselves with some different play calls. RB screens? Bootlegs?

The answer is simple.

If no one else wants to offer Mike Sherman a head coaching position... then I guess we need to promote him out of the coordinator position somehow. The alternative is for Joe to grow a set and part ways with Sherman.

Or Sherman needs to play more. I play a ton of Madden and am always over matched with users stick skills but can run a 400 play on both sides of the ball. Most of these guys have their go to **** and you can beat them because that's all they have. Sherman is like this in a way. We did not try screens, quick throws to the running backs... nothing. We are a horrible screen team and a lot of that falls directly on bad coaching. Play calling is not overrated if it were we would not have had a day like Sunday. There is a difference between getting shut out and doing what we did... Absolutely nothing!!!

At least you admit it.

You believe this BS because you play madden and you can run 400 different plays.

Have you ever considered the fact that what we go with is what our players strengths are? You simply cant call whatever and expect a group of 11 men who havent practiced doing that **** or it simply dosent fit their skill sets and expect them to execute it. Its not a video game. Its REAL FOOTBALL.

"Get creative" herp derp. Yea....... as soon as Sherman gets Peyton Manning at QB, he will get real ****ing creative for you. And he will look like a god damned genius in your eyes.

Bills a top defense? Yes defensive line and top pass rush. But if you've seen the Bills games, they've allowed 20 something pts per game. For a top defense, the bills sure allow a lot of points scored on them from offenses. The problem is, the Bills secondary is not that good, but their pass rush is great. Teams that can actually block a damn, have taken advantage of that and when their qb has time to throw they do damage to bills secondary. However, teams like fins who have a bad o line and get manhandled by bills pass rush, they don't score on the Bills becausee their qb gets pressued or sacked all game and they can't take advantage agains the bills secondary, because the bills pass rush does their job and allows their secondary to not have to cover the Wrs that long before the bills d line is in the qbs face or tackling the runningback behind the line of scrimmage.
