Sherman Fired

Linehan is good when he is put on a leash. Remember the offense looked awful early under him here, and Saban made him come down to field level to coach.
Not sure that Philbin is strong enough to put Linehan on a leash. He appears to be hands off type of coach.

Just for the record, Philbin making changes doesn't necessarily make him a lame duck coach. This isn't like the Sparano case where he was about to be pushed out the door. Even then Sparano interviewed a few decent candidates just went with Daboll.

There have been instances in the past where coaches had to make huge changes. Mike McCarthy was forced to change his entire defensive staff before he won the Super Bowl. He just has to make the right decision.

Ross was looking for any way to replace Sparano in 2011, Ross was looking for any to keep Philbin this offseason. I agree with you, and don't agree with other's thoughts that coaches wouldn't want this OC job.

With that said, Ben McAdoo or Rob Chudzinski would be nice hires.

Now replace the General Manager and things might be fine.

It's obvious that Ross loves Philbin. I don't think Philbin's seat is that hot right now, as weird as that seems.

And obviously doing a terrible job improving his deep ball. A great QB coach is supposed to be a teacher, someone who will convey the proper technique behind all the throws. Zac Taylor has no business being anything but a cheerleader.

His deep ball with Wallace was off.. Its not like the kid didnt complete any deep balls

Context on how this all went down would be interesting.

I've heard often that Kubiak and Sherman are close friends. It's possible that if Sherman threw himself on his sword he could convince Kubiak to come in and keep his son in law on staff. I would be okay with that, I love Gary Kubiak the way Hayden Fox loves Mike McCoy.

Jason LaCanfora expects changes to the front office as well...

Why is Jeff Ireland still here. Is this man really made of teflon, nothing sticks to him WTF!!!!

This not enough, Ireland has to go too! The Sherman hire was a dumb move to begin with. If thill and Sherman could not make it work at Texas a&m then what made anyone think it would work at the nfl level. Bottom line firing Sherman was a good move, but unless you relieve ireland of his duties as well, this team will not get better with his lack of scouting ability.

why is Philbin talking like the dude died? Friend or not he ran your O into the dirt while you stood there and stared at the titantron with that dumbass look on your face

Philbin is sad because unlike what a lot of folks think Sherman didn't operate the offense in a vacuum. Philbin was on board with Sherman's game plan and supported it whole heartedly. This is what scares me the most about keeping Philbin.

How we spinning this fellas?

Philbin is weak and succumbed to Ross?

Or

Philbin is continuing on with his crusade against leader types and Sherman just got too leader-ey for his liking?

Sherman is a scapegoat. Ireland and Philbin are garbage and will be fired before long.
