IMO, Gates is definately gonna see some plays this year, but he's not ahead of Hartline.
They love two things of Brian Hartline: his speed and his motor. Will he end up being #2 I doubt it, our staff loves Hartline. His speed is something else, I just hope that Henne and Gates can continue to work on there timing so he isn't being over thrown all the time.
i'll say no because from what i have seen, speed receivers are way more effective in the slot, secondly we can put clyde in on 3rd downs for hartline if we wanna go deep wit him at #2. Theres just no need to put him at #2 when we have hartline who is pretty damn good himself.
Personally, I think Roberto Wallace eventually goes into the #2 spot. Miami can do much better than Hartline at the number 2, but it may take some time before those options emerge.
On the bright side, if Henne doesn't work out, our first round pick next year will have his blind side protected, and a great set of receivers to throw to, its an ideal situation for a rookie QB.
He made one good catch. He's going to have to show me more. He looks like he needs to get stronger. It doesn't look like he could take many hits in the middle.
Don't forget how many times the coaching staff has said that hartline is the smartest wr on the field, he knows every wr position so he knows every route that the other receivers are running, he has an advantage on every single player out there except the qb, you cant teach that, the guy is smart and thats what make him the player he is, imo.
hartline possibly a phenomenal #2 wr??? in my best keyshawn voice "come on man"
