Shulters has productive visit

Well if hes impressed thats good. Because we're not gonna offer him much. So if hes impressed maybe he'll play for less.

It just sucks he wasn't impressed enough to cancel the other team visits. Another team could easily offer alot more $$$ like Detroit who seems to overpay all their FAs. As for Manuel Wright, I see Philly putting up atleast their 2nd rounder since they should be very confident that their pick is going to be in the bottom 5-7 in each round. But with the release of Quintin Williams and with Tillman in the passenger seat we definitely need Lance Schulters. Or I wonder if Bobby Taylor could be switched to FS at this stage in his career like his opposite corner for so many years Troy Vincent is doing in Buffalo. Or another alternative sign Ty Law and move Travis Daniels to FS for a year so Travis could atleast get valuable playing time early in his career. One thing is for sure we need atleast one of these players;

1. Lance Schulters FS
2. Ty Law CB
3. Bobby Taylor CB
for the secondary and;

1. Manuel Wright DT (with no higher than a second since there is such a premium on draft picks because the '06 draft is going to be loaded IMO)
2. Ross Verba LT (with an incentive-laden contract for 1 to 2 years but I think his asking price will be too much and another team will spend the big bucks which definitely won't be us but a team like Buffalo. And the '06 draft is going to be loaded with blue chip Offensive Tackles so Verba with a one-year deal w/ incentives would be great. Otherwise let the Bills or some other team desperate for an OT overpay and give him that 5-year deal for $23.5 million or whatever he thinks he's worth. I saw he only gave up 4.5 sacks last year on a Cleveland o-line that was horrid so that's impressive but we should wait for our permanent LT. Hopefully Vernon Carey surprises and becomes that player and McIntosh will not have to torture us again with his untimely false starts and lack of pass or run blocking ability.

Yo he would only come to Miami to look like a God in are secondary for a year and then get a huge pay day off someone next season.

BUT if we get the chance sign him rite away

i think that its imperative to sign schulters...we dont have any depth at safety and what has tillman ever done in this league...schulters most likely would start...

Dolphins | Wright Visits
Fri, 24 Jun 2005 19:03:24 -0700

Alex Marvez, of the Sun-Sentinel, reports USC DT Manuel Wright visited with the Miami Dolphins Friday, June 24. He entered in the NFL's supplemental draft July 14.

Mod edit: This is a warning. The next time you circumvent the profanity filter, you will be suspended for 24 hours. , why isn´t he impressed....... :lol:

But looking at the contract we gave Tillman which was:

2Years with VET Minumum salaries with a 600k bonus prorated over two years

I could see Shulters offered something very similar (2yrs) but with a slightly higher annual salaries and bonuses. If signed I could also see Tillman cut at the end of preseason but would cost us with a dead weight of 600k and 300k next tear. I would much rather have Shulters/Bell than Tillman/Bell or Shulters/Tillman. Just random thoughts..........

Mueller and Saban need to pounce on Schulters now!!!....

He wont be on the market much longer, and this is an imperative signing for us. I'll be very disappointed if we don''t land him. He's almost falling into our lap as is, so money should not be a factor in getting him in here. His talent on the field, and leadership in the lockroom is undeniable, and that's exactly what this defense needs right now....

It would be very foolish to not stay in the bidding for Schulters. We need him more than anyone right now. Our secondaries' future may be riding on it....

Tillman was a waste, and Bell isn't starter material. we must have an experienced player holding it down back there. Schulters at safety would be a huge upgrade over Tillman / Bell / or whoever else Saban plans on giving a shot to...

PHINZ RULE!!!

PHINZ RULE!!!

Dolphins | Schulters has Productive Visit
Fri, 24 Jun 2005 19:03:02 -0700

Alex Marvez, of the Sun-Sentinel, reports free agent S Lance Schulters (Titans) had a productive visit with the Miami Dolphins Friday, June 24. "He was impressed with what the Dolphins are planning to do on defense," agent Brian Levy said.
I hope we can sign him as I don't have alot of confidence in the other potential FS's on the roster. At least Schulters has proven himself in the NFL.

We need Shulters so teams can now still be afraid of our pass defense once again.

We need to stop picking up other teams cap casualties and continue grooming our own young talent. Just because we dont have a big name free safety doesnt mean we dont have adequate talent back there. If Schulters was so valuable why didnt Tenn find a way to get a contract done.

I am very glad that he was impressed with Saban and the defense. Now lets hope that he likes us better then the other teams that he will be visiting.

...Kind of agree, there.

Allthough I have somewhat of a hope for Tillman, I think Yeremiah Bell has more potential.

I'd LOVE to see our free safety depth chart read: 1. Lance Schulters, 2. Yeremiah Bell.

This would be nice, but hell........ Lance Schulters, and Tebucky Jones doesn't sound bad in the least bit either. Tebucky has been around for a while now, and hasn't reached his full potential, but if he does........WATCH OUT!!!! (Much like Chris Chambers)

No, I know Tebucky is starting at strong safety.

I was talking about the depth chart at FREE safety. ;)

I believe I read not so long ago on KFFL that Detroit was not interested and denied claims that they were.
