SI has a story ranking all 32 teams for Team of the Decade (so far with one year remaining, 2009).

Makes the case that if Pittsburgh wins the SB this year, it's a toss up between New England and Pittsburgh.

We are ranked #17
Winning seasons: 6
Losing seasons: 3

Playoffs: 3 (but missed playoffs 3 other years with winning records, most of any team this decade).

We started off alright, with 11 wins in 2 straight years, then the 9 win choke, as well ast the 10 win choke, and then just kind of fell off from there.

Maybe we can close the decade with a bang.

Seems like we'd win one tough game then get blown out in the next round, or just get smashed in the 1st round.

There were some memorable games, like the 2 Oakland ones, the NE MNF, and Indy playoff game..but other than that, pretty forgettable. This season was nice though.

This list is retarded - did some teams tkae whole seasons off? some teams have a total of 8 years - for example, 3 winning 5, losing while others have 9 and some have 7 or even 6! Look at Cincinatti:

27. Cincinnati
Regular season: 58-85-1, .406
Playoff wins/record: 0-1
Super Bowls won/appeared: 0
Playoff seasons: 1
Winning seasons: 1
Losing seasons: 5

The Bengals this decade are a prime example why you never take anything for granted in the NFL. When Cincy went 11-5 in 2005 and made the playoffs for the first time in 15 years, everybody and their brother raced to label the team one of the league's coming powers. Then Carson Palmer hurt his knee early in that playoff game, a dozen or so arrests transpired, and the NFL's next big thing became its next big bust. You just never know.

How is this possible.. shoddy, shoddy work...

nevermind - i guess they arent counting the 8-8 seasons.. as evidenced by the Houston entry:

31. Houston
Regular season: 40-72, .357
Playoff wins/record: 0
Super Bowls won/appeared: 0
Playoff seasons: 0
Winning seasons: 0
Losing seasons: 5

The Texans are the only NFL team not playing with a full decade in this particular exercise, having debuted as an expansion team in 2002. But in seven full seasons, they've posted five losing records and a pair of 8-8s the past two years. Then again, the Oilers lasted 37 seasons in Houston without ever making a Super Bowl trip, so there's still three decades to play with if you're the Texans.

The Patriots are the "Team of the Decade" like Barry Bonds is the home run king.

Technically they may have it, but the dubious means in which they achieved their success will always cast a pall over their legacy.

Perfect comparison! Love it! :hi5:

The stats show/prove that the Fins belong at #17 at least.
That may surprise some people, especially since people (even Fin fans) don't appreciate how consistent the Fins have been (even with the 1-15 year).

Freaking WANNY!!!

Plus the author mentions how Oakland got jobbed in NE in the snow playoff game in 2001 (NE's first SB win season) when the tuck should have been a fumble!

when will they come out with interesting nfl rankings like who can spit the furthest or eat the most hot dogs?

Yup, we've sucked this decade. Kind of lucky not to be lower. We're placed where we are due to overall record, but many of the teams after us have had much better highs than we have. Without last year things would look a lot more dire.

When I first saw that we were ranked at 17, I thought it seemed low. Then, looking at the list, it seems fair - if not generous. Still have a year to right that, though.

I just pray we are emerging from the tunnel of suckiosity into the shining light of championship football. It'll take a while to wash the Wannstead/Saban/Cameron stench off us...pour another cup of Sparano Super Soap, please...
