SIR: Madison goes off on Feeley after pick (link)

The offense has to step up. They have to find ways to win, and make plays. I LOVE seeing the kind of emotion that causes Sam Madison to have to be restrained, or seeing Randy McMichael slam his helmet into the ground and start running after the OL who just sit down deeply, deeply shamed.

That is something we've been missing I think. Screw the whole taboo separation between offense and defense and the blame game. When a football player on your team needs to be called out, he needs to be called out. AJ Feeley needed to be called out after tossing that pick, because whether it was a miscommunication or not, he should know better. The OL needed to be called out after that utterly ABSYMAL performance, they needed to feel the deep shame that caused them to start blocking people enough for us to get that touchdown and FG. This is a team sport man, its not an offensive team and a defensive team.

If I were Dave I would keep this even-keel approach, and let the players themselves bytch the offense ALL WEEK. Treat them like rookies. All of them. Carry their pads, etc. That defense, stripped of any and all depth whatsoever at two of their most critical positions, left their heart and soul on that field and gave up 3 field goals to a very talented Cincy offense despite numerous offensive and special teams turnovers.

The last thing the team needs is for the offence and defence to start fitghing with each other. The o-line played terrible and they need to hear about it but we all need to move on and try to win a game. All the defence can do at this point(or should do)is to play like they know THEY have to win the game all by themselfs.Play for their pride and not worry about the offence. Our offence is gonna be bad for a while with some many new guys. I'm giving AJ a break at this point since he has no o-line and I'm hoping we start Mac and Carey soon.

Ozzy rules!!

He has every right to be angry. Feeley made some dumb mistakes, the o-line couldn't block for crap. It was sad. I'm not bashing Feeley (in the past he's been effective when he has protection) but I'm going to call him out when he makes errant throws. If the offense doesn't miraculously shape up within the next week...you're going to see a mutiny by the D.
Well, I really think that Sam should be asking his fellow defenders why they folded like a cheap suit in the last drive of the game and allowed the Bengals to get into FG range rather than sending it to overtime. Afterall, the offense DID pull it together enough to tie up the game. This isn't the first time this defense has folded when the game was on the line, it won't be the last.

Please spare me the "well they were tired by that time" excuse for the defense giving up the winning score. They were still playing like probowlers on the series just before the game winning drive.

Sam's reply would have been Jimmy Wyrick he sucks ! Im suprised we didnt have Matt Turk playing corner!

Madison should have opened his mouth for the past 4 years then ! His frustration is a culmination of what the offense has'nt done for the last 4 years under Fiedler, not 1 game under Feeley. Sam needs to shut up or blame the right people, which is the offense of the last 4 years and the Offensive line of this year !!!

AND the defense for games that THEY have blown on the final drive or in the second half of games. Believe it or not, there have been more than just a couple. I will say it again.....this defense is inconsistent.

Zach was freaking out too and someone had to calm him down on the sideline. Someone said he was miked up but I don't know what he was saying. He was a crazy man on the sideline. Our entire D was crazy psyched up! I feel so bad for those guys that work their butt off. I love our receivers but like another coach said. Catches are made everyday on poorly thrown balls and good throws are dropped everyday. You have to make the play no matter what. I think the problem with the routes would be corrected with more playing time together and STUDY TIME!

maybe, just maybe, sam respected jay enough to not do that to him. aj hasn't earned that type of respect yet, and he won't if he keeps throwing pick-6's.

It's dissapointing Sam Madison is a veteran and the last thing this team needs is bull!@#$ on the sideline if he has something to say do it in the locker room but not on the road on the sideline. When players start Teeing off on each it will come apart at the seems unless it already has .
Agree and my feelings are that he was dissing on wrong guy. McMichael took on the whole OL!!! way to go Macca! Bad move by Madison tho IMO. Feeley was getting the living c**p knocked out of him last night. From what ive read the team was read the riot act behind closed doors after the game but too little too late Wanny!! Shame it wasnt the team reading the riot act to Wanny and his pally coach mates.:fire:

And he wont be able to get any respect if he has the keystone Kops protecting him!!!

I agree. The time of possession was only a minute difference. That's no reason to be too tired for the last drive. This is what keeps our D from being truly great. For whatever reason they can't seem to tstop the other team when it matters most.

But I still think Sam had every right to call Feeley out. He may have only had 2 picks, but if the Cincy D could catch it could easily have been 4 or 5.

LOVE the intensity, hate the basis.

Had we COMMITTED to AJ from the fricking beginning, given him an ENTIRE pre-season with the starting O, and the practice time with the starters THEN I'd agree with this. But under the circumstances where Wannys had AJ's balls for theentire pre-season it's hard for me to "call feeley out". The guy had ONE week where he knew he'd start, fiedler started 3 of our 4 pre-season games, and got the majority of snaps in pre-season. Aj woudl take time to adjust under the BEST of circumstances, mcuh less that **** he's been put through with Wanny this season.

This goes on the COACH NOT the players. I'm all about owning up to your mistakes on the field but you have to blame WANNY for the **** that's going on.

He DIDN'T COMMIT to the right QB in the first place. That was VERY valuable learning time lost for AJ while Wanny dicked around.

He didn't get the OL together and let them gel. Is carey playing or not? And just who are they opening holes for again?

I mean, we look unprepared and we ARE for a reason.

Yes, I counted at least two other passes that SHOULD have been interceptions.....one being the incredible grab by Chambers in the back of the endzone. Feeley was VERY lucky that this one wasn't picked off. I think it was Feeley's velocity alone that kept it from going the other way. I believe that if it had been a Fiedler pass, our drive would have ended in the redzone.

I think that Madison has earned the right to berate Feeley for such stupid plays. Sam knows that the offense is going to struggle and that the D is going to have to play lights out to win games. If Feeley keeps giving up points due to his picks then that is something the defense can't stop.

The sad fact is that Feeley has given up 14 points in 1 and a half games and the D has only given up 19 points in 2 games. You can't win when your struggling offense is giving up points that the D can't even defend.

I agree...

I agree... I think AJ could be playing better if Dave put AJ from the start as starter, more sanps in the QB scohlls, and in the preseson with the 1° team, and Stating him in the preseson games, He need to learn the how the this ofense play and get confident with his Recibers and Randy, but this just come with more time playing together.....

I Think Jay have his chance a knaw we need to suport AJ and let him learn and be better next year.

GO Fins, we need to be together, Defenses and ofensse and Fans....:)
