I like Minnis in the slot. As a slot receiver, he will be lining up off the line more often than not. He will also likely be put into motion. This will keep teams from pressing him at the line. This guy is as quick as a cat though. He is very adept at changing directions on the fly. He can cut on a dime. When he was in college, he wasn't a burner that would blaze past you, but he could juke you out of your shoes. He was also a productive player when playing in Kansas City as a rookie. I don't think anyone expected Minnis to have 33 receptions as a rookie.
The guy that is going to make this roster at the receiver position is Kendall Newson. He was very impressive in practice all season last year, but when he got his opportunity in the game, he admittedly was nervous and didn't peform as well as expected. The Dolphins are still high on this guy, and he's got a great chance of making this team as a 4th or 5th receiver. There is a reason Newson passed Tolver on the depth chart last season. Newson is better.
Look for Miami to keep 5 receivers, and those receivers will be Chris Chambers, David Boston, Marvin Minnis, Derrius Thompson, and Kendall Newson.
