there's a very good chance we could have our 4th straight losing season under Ireland...how much of a leash has Ross given him? Had we started fresh with a new GM he would have been given at least 3 years to turn things around...what are Stephen Ross's expectations this year? I hope his senile ass isn't expecting playoffs like he has been the past couple seasons lol.

this is why as an owner when you take over a team and they give you 3 straight losing seasons, YOU CLEAN HOUSE. you dont half fire a regime...especially when you didnt hire any of these guys yourself.

i hate Ireland's guts but even I think it's unfair to expect him to knock this draft out of the park and have every rookie filling needs and contributing right away just because he might feel the pressure to have his best draft since Parcells left...because that's probably what it's gonna take for this team just to make it to .500 this year.

lets be honest, we are rebuilding. Rebuilding usually = losing games. a new GM with a new coach can lose early while they build up the team with their guys. can a GM going into his 5th year suffer yet another non impact draft and losing season?

If we continue to lose at some point Ross has to serve Ireland up because at the end of the day no matter how much he has flubbed some moves as an owner he wants to make money. Fans patience is running out

Personally though he should get fired in my opinion because according to so many on this board he basically did nothing while Parcells was here and got paid handsomely lol I do think a new coach does buy him this year and probably next unless he really botches our first round pick.

I agree with Nubs. I think the Tuna really screwed this team up before he left and Ireland has really only had one draft on his own.

They need to give Ireland at least 9 more years.......nothing that is wrong with this team is his fault.......everything is someone else's fault.......the few good players we have are all thanks to Ireland....the bad ones are not his fault.....we just need to give him more time......I'm sure after he picks an o-lineman in the first round for the next 6 years we'll be fine.

Ozzy rules!!

lol very convenient for Ireland supporters...give him credit for the 2011 draft only, knowing it's too early to judge or criticize after just one season. deflect blame for all the busts taken over the first 3 drafts like you were Ireland's lawyer.

Tuna didn't screw this team up, 10 years of mismanagement and ridiculous GMing ****ed this team up, specifically Spielman and Mueller, the team did not build for the future under either of them, they traded picks, wasted money and did nothing to help cap space during their tenures.

Tuna had the balls to come in and do what needed to be done, he cleaned the house, made the tough cuts and stocked up drafts picks. Bill made a good foundation to build on with much potential but the problem with Bill is the fact that he lacks the foresight to adapt and build a modern NFL team, he stuck to his archaic outdated ways and now Miami is paying for it.

Jeff had flashes of showing non-Billesque tendencies only to out out think himself on this ridiculous value verse worth equation that he tries to follow. Jeff has no balls to take a dare to great moment and gamble on a prospect or free agent and he lives and dies by this value proposition chart that cuts the legs out from under him when it comes to high risk/high reward talent or simply taking a shot and either hitting or missing.

Miami has gotten to this point by a culmination of blundering and squandering as a collective effort which reflects poor decisions from ownership down.

There is an old bull and a young bull on a hill. Young bull, let's run down and **** a cow to which the old bull says let's walk down and **** them all. Well that is a sound philosophy if there are only 2 bulls in the game, problem is there are 32 bulls in this game and at least if you run down at the head of the pack you get your pick of the cows before they are all taken.

Still not sure where all the hate is coming from... everyone who's been bitching about ireland has baseless arguments... the same people who complain about everything else. Why not build a case against him, suggest alternative options... something. Its alot of "wahh wahh, I hate him, he sucks".

Ireland will be judged primarily...like it or not on the his next two drafts. Rodd is already feeling the pressure...if the Dolphins impode early this upcoming season...he may be toast at the end of the year. Like the president, Ireland now owns this team...he can't blame on Parcells, Cam Cameron, Mueller, or George Bush. He must find a QB! The fan base just will not tolerate anything less...anymore. Unlike the president...I think Ireland is wise not to overpay for players that they don't think can beat out who we already have. At least Ireland doesn't have a 16 trillion dollar debt (and climbing) and whats s to inflate our tires and run our cars on algae!

fins are not going to implode. the schedule is going to be much easier.

It really depends on how this season goes.

At the moment, this team could very well be picking in the top 5 of next years draft. Even if Philbin proves to be an outstanding coach, this is a .500 team at best. Ireland will have to have a home run hitting draft in order to push us north of that.

If we have another miserable season, if we end up winning 3-4 games and pick in the top 5 of the draft, Ross will probably take a real hard look at how messed up the team is and wash his hands of Ireland. If we finish around where our talent is, 7-8 wins, Ireland sadly gets another year.
