So how does it work now w/ Ireland? Does he get another 4 yr term like the President?

Will be? What makes you so certain? Have you seen the 2012 opponents? Do you remember the 6-3 finish? Do you remember that Sparano is gone, who everyone blamed for the results last season? Miami has just as good a chance to have a winning season as they do a losing season. Don't assume things are going to fail, unless you are hoping they do.

i had this same argument with you last damn offseason when you were on some this teams at least .500 with henne and a playoff contender with kyle orton kick...yeah i've seen the schedule and i've seen the in house qb options...only thing thats changing this teams fortunes at this point is a legit day 1 starting qb in the draft...and even then its gonna be dicey...

i don't want to have this argument again...we'll just let it play out...a lot like 2011

Lets see what happens. If Moore beats Flynn when we play Seattle then maybe we will be 500 or better. We will need to fill the holes with quality starters to make the playoffs and Moore would have to beat winning teams. Those are big ifs becasue we have no pas history with good data.

Ireland is doing fine just needs that QB to push him over the top. He manages the cap well, we have money to spend but not too much like Tampa, he has picked some pretty good picks late in the draft, free agents like Cameron Wake, Starks all his first round picks are starters and the past 3 years his free agent pickup like Dansby, Marshall and Burnett have paid dividends. Those first 2 drafts were heavliy influenced by Parcells and Tony Sporano gets the credit for all the offensive line picks and production IMO.

Gone after the upcoming 4 win season. Drafting Tannehill might hold off his execution another year however.

thats the thing...if ireland drafts tannehill and sits on him for a year he's got a built in excuse for the 2012 season...everyone says the kid needs to sit...i bet ireland at least gets 2013 if we use the top pick on tannehill...

I think whatever qb we draft will sit until Moore and Garrard stink it up but Tannehill I do think with his knowledge of Sherman's offense has a better chance than any rookie beyond Luck to be our starting qb this year.

that makes sense...and its why when we signed garrard i said to myself brandon weeden is out...you don't use a high a pick on a qb at that age who's gonna likely sit behind a garrard or moore...if you use a high pick on a weeden he needs to compete now and i don't see this thing shaking out that way...they want a young qb who can sit for a little bit behind a garrard or a moore and learn the ropes etc before they throw him to the flames...but like you said if one guy is gonna be ready early on for what we want to do its tannehill...so if he proves a quick learner i could see one ofmoore or garrard cut...

i just hope if tannehill is the guy he shows well enough in camp to warrant the job...would be nice if the kid showed he deserved to be the man from the get go...but probably wishful thinking

there's a very good chance we could have our 4th straight losing season under Ireland...how much of a leash has Ross given him? Had we started fresh with a new GM he would have been given at least 3 years to turn things around...what are Stephen Ross's expectations this year? I hope his senile ass isn't expecting playoffs like he has been the past couple seasons lol.

this is why as an owner when you take over a team and they give you 3 straight losing seasons, YOU CLEAN HOUSE. you dont half fire a regime...especially when you didnt hire any of these guys yourself.

i hate Ireland's guts but even I think it's unfair to expect him to knock this draft out of the park and have every rookie filling needs and contributing right away just because he might feel the pressure to have his best draft since Parcells left...because that's probably what it's gonna take for this team just to make it to .500 this year.

lets be honest, we are rebuilding. Rebuilding usually = losing games. a new GM with a new coach can lose early while they build up the team with their guys. can a GM going into his 5th year suffer yet another non impact draft and losing season?

The entire 4 years of losing is not under the control of Ireland. If that were the case I could see all the belly aching that goes on around here.

I cant wait for the 2013 offseason. Not because the inevitably losing season will be behind us, but because the excuses should be damn entertaining.

"How is it Irelands fault?!?! He doesnt have full control! He answers to Ross so its not his fault! If Jeff Ireland was owner, this team would never lose!"

"Were going to have a losing season? How is that even POSSIBLE!?!? The schedule is so much easier then last year and we are a better team!"

"How is it Irelands fault that we need a quarterback when Philbin refused to play Garrard? Now that Garrard has a full season on the bench to learn the system, he is totally going to take this team to the playoffs. We dont need to draft a quarterback because they can bust!"

"You cant fire Ireland, we could do so much worse! Plus his first round picks(going back to '08, just ignore the bad moves because those werent his fault) are all solid! Riley Reiff killed it on the right side! Now we just need a left guard....."

Why? The Patriots went 0-2 vs winning teams last year? We MUST beat the bad and mediocre teams we play and like NE last year this years schedule is full of them.

If Ireland can address the long term QB need, he gets a few more years. If he drafts a 3rd day pick as a developmental prospect, that doesnt count as addressing our long term need at QB. I dont think this years record will have anything to do with his job security. I only expect 6-9 wins anyway. What matters is how this team is set up long term.

If Ireland doesnt get a QB in the draft, pressure will continue to build and this forum is going to be no fun to visit...

If you listen to Ross speak about Ireland it's clear he is judging him only on his past 2 years of being a full time GM which should also clear up any misconceptions on who was pulling the personnel strings before Tuna left.

doesnt really clear up what input ireland had just clears up that he likes ireland. why should tha be anything meaningful from an owner that made the awful decision to extend sparano
