According to KFFL, Scott Fujita of the Chiefs is "on the bubble" to make the roster. Now, if he is cut, I think he is a TERRIFIC option.

Here are the numbers:

He is 6'5, 250, and he has three years experience starting, and yet he is still very young (only 4 years pro). With Seau's uncertainty (injuries/age), he would be a great insurance policy, and he definitely has more of the size Saban likes (unlike Eddie Moore/Derek Pope who, while good players, dont fit the bill). It seems to me that Nick would really rather not have Channing play two positions, and just concentrate on one- the Mike- where he will learn from one of the best in Zach Thomas and eventually replace him. Fujita also clearly has some pass rush ability, 8.5 the last 2 years, so he could be a very interesting option outside in a 3-4. Anyway, I just think that if he is cut, he would be too good to pass up.

Thoughts?

How in the world is Fujita on the bubble?

A year ago he was on the verge of the Pro bowl.

Chiefs | Fujita on the Bubble

Bob Gretz, of KCChiefs.com, reports Kansas City Chiefs LB Scott Fujita is currently on the bubble to make the 53-man roster.

hes solid, id love to add him at the expense of moore or pope

That's a real stretch. K.C. linebackers have been nothing short of miserable hence the signing of a very shaky Bell and the spending of their first rounder on a LB.

6'5 250 is mammoth.

And just because the KC defense as a whole was so terrible, doesnt mean he as an individual is not a good player. He would definitely be an upgrade over Moore/Pope.

Well I must have been dreaming of all the praise I heard of one "Scott Fujita" in 2003.

The KC D was horrendous, but I knew I always heard Fujita was a lone bright spot and always made plays.

Look at his stats!!

He had 111 tackles and 4 sacks on a terrible unit. EDIT: and an interception

fuijita with crowder thomas and spragan wouldnt be bad for our hybrid 34 with junior as a mentor and part timer. nevermind glenn and pope for depth

fujita would be a nice pickup if this is true. gretz is questionable with his sources though. if this is true and he is cut, a lot of fans in this area will really be pi$$ed. he is a fan favorite.

But he's not nearly as productive as Fujita.

I'd love to add him on here. Would be like a little payback for all the players the chiefs got from us this season...

I'd honestly be very surprised if Kansas City decided to release Scott Fujita. I feel that he gives them excellent DEPTH and that he will make the final 53-man roster.

Frankly I'm shocked to here that Fujita is on the "bubble" with KC. I know that DJ has been fabulous for them in camp (which i knew he would) and that KC has tried to upgrade their LBs for a couple years now but I'm truly suprised by this. While not a probowler he's a way above average player. Don't get me wrong, the worlds not going to fall apart if the guy stopped playing the sport tomorow or anything but....well...wow.

I'd be all for bringing him in for a tryout.

As for the Jackson kid from Pittsburg. yeah, he's got the size but I don't think he could beat out pope for a spot. Without him having a full TC learning our Defense I just don't know if he could pick it up quick enough to be a straght backup to Spragan (jackson's likely spot in our defense). Of course our defense is very similar to Pitts (as close as anyone's for that matter) so that might help the guy somewhat.....and he is simply huge for a LB. heck, he's almost JT size! But I don't think he comes here. just my opinion.
