So the Pats will most likely let Welker walk. Do you think we have a shot?

The guy is not as polished as he once was but he is still a threat to some degree IMO. I do not think that he will ever land in Miami, but if he does chooses a team from our division I will feel a bit uneasy about it. I believe he has something left in the tank and that makes him a danger to lesser degree now more than in his early years.

We all must keep our eyes on this Welker issue regardless of outcome. Wes is, was, one of the best, maybe, in his possission, not sure though. Maybe I am making him sound too good, I can't really say for sure right now.
 
I think the days of Miami signing upper level free agents are gone. Pretty strong indicators this past draft of how they are going to build.

If it was an honest deal, no problem. To stick it to us with a poison pill contract...NO! My point is not hard to understand. I can't understand why you are having trouble understanding it.

It was a particular comment he made after he signed with the Pats. He said that when he was a Phin, whenever they played the Pats he always wanted to be on the other sideline wearing the other jersey (meanng a Pats jersey).
He's a role player and a ****y little bastard. His numbers wouldn't be nearly what they are if he played for anyone else (and he knows it), which is why he will never leave NE.

Wes has 13,636 all porpose yards. Almost half (6000+) came when he was a Dolphin.
Wes would put up yards on any team he played for. He's that good. In a couple years he will be in the top ten all-time for all porpose yards joining these players.

He has touched the ball a little over 1000 times career and averages 13 yards every time he gets his hands on the ball. Only 21 fumbles with all those touches.

Don't get me wrong. I like Bess. He is very capable. His average per touch is lower than Wes (13>10.5) but Wes had more kickoff returns to boost that average.
Both score about 1 every 30 times they touch the ball. Very similar there.
The one big difference is turnovers. Bess fumbles twice as much as Wes has. Wes 21 fumbles in over 1000 touches, Bess 15 fumbles in less than 400 touches.

It not so much the loss of Wes being replaced by Bess that I hate but rather the addition it made to the Patriots. Giving them a player that allows their team to score 100 more point per season has to be one of the biggest divisional trade blunders in the history of NFL.

I think I need another year to see what Bess can do. I saw him both at Oregon State, then when he torched the Ducks. I like the kids character, and have watched as he was a "big play" reciever. I want to see how he does w/ the new offense. I actually think of Bess in the same mold as Welker, and will be watching to see how he is used this year.

I still like Hartline. I think of him as one of those receivers who don't put up HUGE numbers, but make the critical catches - think Swann, Clark, etc. If the Fins can utilize the hurry-up offense successfully, I'll be watching to see what mismatches develop.
 
Agreed. Bess is better than Welker. He's been gone for 5 years. Let it go my friend.
