I think the decision should be made no later than after the 3rd pre season game so the starter can have the majority of the reps for the remainder of camp. Drawing it out any longer is a waste, especially if the guys are close.
 
Well, that last sentence lends itself to the general perception folks have about Feeley, but it's not like Saban's comments concerning RB immediately following the draft about "this is a guy who can play with another significant player in the backfield". It doesn't strike me that way, anyway.

Frerotte has executed Linehan's offense "in games" at least as well as anything that Feeley has ever done, his time in Philly included.

Right, but it does mean that we're back to square one as far as guessing who Saban is leaning toward. There has been no revelation.
