Source Indicates That The Dolphins And Jakeem Grant Are Close To A 4-year Contract Extension

Curious to see the money on this. Hasn’t proved a whole lot but proved he can make plays sporadically. Not sure if he’s worth the extension if he hasn’t proved to be an every down player. Especially coming back from injury.
 
I see people ecstatic on twitter about it .... ah. I guess when you look at the future of the wide receiver position here, not much will be around.
 
Wow - wouldn’t have guessed that - but assuming a team friendly deal which is just what the doctor ordered for him.

Also means he’s going to see some package plays, which should be exciting.
 
Grant, I believe, was a personal choice by Mike Tannenbaum. He lobbied to make the selection.
 
It's all in the details. Glad to lock him up, I think he will be a solid contributor as a receiver and an ace returner for the duration of the contract. Injuries are a concern, but if the deal is team friendly this could be a steal.

Chris Grier began presiding over the Miami Dolphins’ drafts in January 2016, when he was named general manager. He did a good job that year. Miami’s 2016 draft was its most promising in years, delivering key players such as left tackle Laremy Tunsil (first round), cornerback Xavien Howard (second round), running back Kenyan Drake (third round) and wide receiver Jakeem Grant (sixth round).

After the 2016 draft I read a report in one of the Miami papers, saying Tannenbaum made the choice of Grant. Apparently it was suppose to be a show of solidarity between the new F/O structure at the time. I can't recall everything.
