Speculation: Suspended Players Could Be Reinstated before Sunday!

The discussions between the NFLPA and the NFL league office have been about HGH, and to our knowledge nobody has tested positive for that. I don't think any new language regarding HGH would redeem any suspended players.

How the hell is that even remotely close to the others on the list IN TERMS OF "BAD"? Shouldn't be illegal in the first place.

It has nothing to do with what YOU believe should be illegal - the fact is it is still illegal.

I used to think the same until I started working in behavioral health. The thought that weed smokers are just happy mellow pot heads is like saying everybody who has a sip of alcohol is a funny drunk. Not true. Pot smoking has serious effects on a large amount of the population and is addictive to many as well. So for a larger percentage of the population than you think pot is just as addictive as pills, benzos, or coke.

Regarding the nfl: if something is illegal in the country I believe it should carry a harsher fine than something that is legal. Adderal should be getting the 1 game. Pot should be the 2-4. DUI, knocking your girlfriend out, etc should be worse. The nfl has its priorities messed up

What difference does it make? In our last game Buffalo beat us with a bench warmer quarterback, for God's sake. Why would anyone think that a similar thing couldn't happen again?

If this new drug testing policy is approved? Seems like that is what Floria just said on the NFL network . He said Wess W. may play this week because it would change to his first offense.

I wouldn't bet on it.

Even if the policy changes I don't see how it would apply retroactively.

Hmm we had an earlier thread just like this one that got moved. So why is this one still here?

Yes it would because that's how negotiations work. The NFL wants the HGH testing, in order for the union to agree to it they need to make "x" changes to the drug testing policy/rules. And if they negotiate that all players will retroactively have these new rules applied to them, its possible they are no longer suspended. Consider how badly the NFL wants the HGH testing, it wouldn't shock me in the least bit to see suspensions lifted due to changed rules.

Someone who gets addicted to marijuana just have addictive personalities IMO. No matter what their vice is (weed, alcohol, porn) they will be addicted to it. I've met tons of people who used to smoke it and then stop with no issues. I used to dabble in it a bit when I was in college and picked up again for a bit a few years ago and I never found it difficult to do it today and not do it again for 6 months, 10 months, 4 years. The people I know who are addicted to it are the same with cigarettes, or partying, or sex.

I'm not a weed advocate, I don't personally do it now, but I have family members that do it every evening after work, same as some who come home and crack open a bud after a long days work; and they are fully functioning family men, hard working, tax paying members of society. I work in Mid town Manhattan in an uber corporate environment, and some of you would be surprised at the people who come home and light a joint every day after work.

Yeah, and I can have a beer and call it a day while people I work with would take that beer and drink more until they blackout every day. You're right to a degree about addictive personalities, but it is a disease. People who have substance abuse issues with pot might not with heroin and visa versa. Its a brain chemical thing and just because pot is thought of as harmless doesnt mean it really is. The league should know this (and I know for a fact the NFLPA does) and they should be trying to protect their players as they would from alcoholism or other substance abuse.

Not to get off topic though - I still think if its illegal in the real world it should still apply to football.

Hmm seems to me that this is a repeat of a post that was moved. Why is this still here then?

You are missing the main point here, none of our players were suspended for HGH, so this doesnt apply to them.

What difference does what make - that Brady may have tested positive and the league ignored it? What are you talking about?

"I’ll be ready to go Sunday," Brady told Jim Gray of Westwood One. Even if Brady gets another rest day on Friday, fantasy owners should fully expect him to be under center against the Dolphins.

Hmm, I wonder if this is just a ploy so Brady and Bane can destroy Sun Life stadium and take over the city of Miami?
